Best French Open Bets Today
Struff to Beat De Minaur 3-0 @ 5/1
Day seven brings a fascinating match-up at the French Open, with big-serving German Jan-Lennard Struff taking on the speedy Alex de Minaur.
De Minaur is seeded 11th in Paris, but we expect the Aussie to get sent home packing on Saturday. Struff may be 34 years old, however he’s as dangerous as an unseeded opponent gets, particularly on clay.
The German came to Roland-Garros 8-3 on clay this swing, with his only losses coming at the hands of Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Speaking of big names, Struff has defeated the likes of Holger Rune, Hubert Hurkacz, Tommy Paul, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud in the last year. It’s safe to say he’s got a thing for upsets.
De Minaur, meanwhile, has cooled off after a brilliant start to the year. He defeated three top 10 players in a row in January to make his own debut in the Tour’s elite. Since then, and after winning an eighth title in February, he’s struggled on clay. His record sits at just 6-4.
While the 11th seed has looked sharp so far this week, we say he’ll fall hard against Struff. The veteran has defeated De Minaur in straight sets twice, and has the kind of game that is very challenging to survive against when it’s firing on all cylinders.
Sabalenka to Beat Badosa 2-0 @ 4/6
Best friends Aryna Sabalenka and Paula Badosa square off this Saturday for a spot in the Round of 16 at the French Open.
While they may be mates off the court, don’t expect Sabalenka to show Badosa any mercy in this match. The Belarusian leads their head-to-head 4-2, and has looked like the business this week in Paris.
Sabalenka has dropped just the seven games at the French Open across two matches. Badosa, on the other hand, has had to go the distance in each of her first two rounds. With the Spaniard having a history of back injuries very recently, it would be no surprise if her body was to give out on her in this encounter.
With Sabalenka smelling Swiatek’s weakness in the air later on this tournament, we expect her to be locked in here. She’ll capitalise on a below-par Badosa, and should get through this in less time than it takes to bake a decent cake.
