Thursday’s Football Tips: Ross County out to save their skins again in SPFL Premiership play-offs

THE SPFL Premiership play-off final gets underway tonight with Ross County heading to Kirkcaldy for another nerve-shredding 90 minutes against Raith Rovers.

The Staggies flirted with the drop last term as they trailed Partick Thistle 3-0 on aggregate with just 20 minutes left in the second leg before mounting a stunning comeback that ended with a shoot-out win.

And Thistle suffered more penalty pain as they lost to Raith Rovers in this season's semi-final after a thrilling tie had ended 3-3 on aggregate.

Ian Murray is looking to lead Raith back into the top flight for the first time in 27 years, and if they could condemn Ross County to the drop, it would cap an incredible season.

Going for goals paid off for me in the semi-final at Stark's Park and this should be another decent watch with both sides scoring freely in recent weeks.

Over 2.5 goals is decent at 17/20 with Bet365 and if you combine that with BTTS then the odds increase to 11/10.

Fiorentina are gearing up for the Europa Conference League Final so they're getting their weekend Serie A fixture out of the way early by making the trip to Cagliari tonight.

Vincenzo Italiano would have ideally wanted to rest players ahead of the showpiece but Fiorentina need a result as they try to hold off Torino and Napoli to guarantee European football for next season.

He still might make a few changes but Cagliari will put up a fight as they still aren't mathematically clear of the drop and need a point to secure safety. With that in mind, the stalemate might be the best option at 14/5 while Cagliari are a decent 11/10 in the double chance.

Fiorentina won 3-0 when these sides met earlier in the season and betting against BTTS again pays 11/10.

NEC Nijmegen vs Go Ahead Eagles Tips

There's some play-off action in the Netherlands tonight as well with semi-final ties in the battle for a Europa Conference League place.

First up is NEC Nijmegen's clash with Go Ahead Eagles and you have to fancy the home team as they're in much better form.

NEC have lost just three of their last 13 games, winning seven, while Go Ahead Eagles went six games without a victory before beating Volendam on the final day.

Backing NEC for a win inside 90 minutes pays 21/20 and that looks worth a punt. Japanese midfielder Kodai Sano has scored in his last two games for Nijmegen and he's a tempting 5/4 just to have a shot on target.

Utrecht vs Sparta Rotterdam Betting Tips

The other semi-final sees Utrecht take on Sparta Rotterdam and it should be a close game as only one point separated them in the league table.

Both teams are in good form, with Sparta winning four of their last five and Utrecht losing just once in their last seven. It points towards the half-time draw and that pays 13/10.

Utrecht signed off with a thrilling 3-3 draw against Alkmaar while Sparta beat Heerenveen 2-1 so it bodes well for goals. Combining BTTS and over 2.5 goals pays 21/20.
