WEST HAM UNITED play host to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
Whilst the two sides are separated by just two places in the top-flight standings, Spurs are 12 points in front of their capital neighbours.
Last time out, David Moyes' men self-destructed when throwing away a two goal lead to lose a 4-3 thriller at Newcastle, on an afternoon where I delivered a St James' Park clean sweep.
The Hammers chief will therefore be demanding a positive response from his side when fierce rivals Tottenham make the short trip across town this midweek.
After falling to a 3-0 defeat at Fulham before the international break, Ange Postecoglou's side got their top four push back on track with a late 2-1 win over Luton on Saturday.
That success leaves Spurs three points behind Aston Villa and a London Stadium triumph on Tuesday night could possibly take the visitors into the top four, at least temporarily.
Outright Betting
West Ham claimed top honours from December's reverse fixture but the same outcome on Tuesday night is an unfancied 21/10 (Bet 365) while a share of the London Stadium spoils is also deemed unlikely at 3/1 (Bet 365).
Tottenham, who are winless in their last three visits to this venue, are 11/10 favourites on Bet 365.
Betting Angles
It's tempting to get with Tottenham in this match at the above-mentioned price but I'm going to get more on my side by merging the visitors on the Double Chance alongside a Tomáš Souček foul at 5/6 (Bet 365).
The form book certainly favours Spurs ahead of this all-London affair, with Ange Postecoglou's team having won three of their last four league games.
West Ham, in contrast, have pocketed maximum points from just two of their last 11 Premier League matches, a run that stretches back to the beginning of 2024.
What's more, David Moyes' men have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last 10 top-flight fixtures, which doesn't bode well given the attacking intensity that Tottenham play with.
As such, I'm prepared to side with Spurs to avoid defeat on Tuesday night, but to bolster the odds, I'll go with the aforementioned Tomáš Souček to tackle himself into trouble at least once during this dust-up.
The Hammers midfielder – who picked up a yellow card at Newcastle last time out – is averaging 1.2 fouls per-game in the Premier League this season and he should be assigned plenty of defensive work on Tuesday night.
In fact, I'm also prepared to take it one step further and propose a play on Souček to commit two or more fouls on Tuesday night at an eye-catching 11/8 on Bet 365.
This bet would have proven profitable in each of Souček's last three Premier League outings and I see no reason to oppose a repeat here given that there is no love lost between these two old foes.
