Improving York City welcome out-of-form Hartlepool to the York Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Neal Ardley’s hosts have scored 27 goals across their opening 19 matches in the National League this term, with 15 (56%) of them coming in front of their supporters. The Minstermen have found the back of the net in each of their previous eight league tussles on home soil – striking on multiple occasions in six (75%) of them – and they will be confident of troubling a Hartlepool defence that has recorded a league-low one clean sheet in the National League this season, shipping multiple goals in 12/19 (63%) of their matches, including in 7/9 (78%) of their road trips.
John Askey’s visitors have scored 31 goals across their opening 19 National League fixtures this campaign, with 14 (45%) of them coming on their travels. Pools have have made the net bulge in all bar one of their opening nine road trips this term – scoring two or more in (56%) of them – and they will be confident of breaching a York defence that has registered just two shutouts in the league this season, with only 22nd-placed Oxford City and 23rd-placed Fylde (both 38) conceding more than their tally of 37.
