Euro 2024 Bet of the day

Following back-to-back successes in MLS, Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to Ireland, and I’ve picked out one side to secure a comfortable home victory over their travel-sick opponents.

⚽️ St Patrick’s Athletic vs Cork City

🇮🇪 Premier Division

⏰ Friday 7th July, 19:45

St Pat’s will look to maintain the pressure on league leaders Shamrock as they welcome away-day strugglers Cork City to Richmond Park on Friday evening.

Jon Daly’s hosts recorded their eighth victory across their previous 11 Irish Premier Division matches on Friday night as they thrashed basement boys UCD 7-0 at home. The Saints boast the division’s best home record, collecting 25 points from their opening 12 fixtures on home turf (W8-D1-L3) – with that record changing to W6-D0-L1 when welcoming bottom-half sides – and they should prove too strong for a Cork side that tends to struggle on their travels.

Liam Buckley’s visitors managed to salvage a point at home to Drogheda last time out, but they remain two points adrift of automatic safety. Only rock-bottom UCD (1) have collected fewer pints in their travels than Cork, with The Rebel Army earning just five points from a possible 30 (W1-D2-L7), with that record changing to W0-D1-L6 when travelling to teams positioned in 6th and above.

Bet of the Day

St Pat’s are the second-highest scorers in the Irish top flight this term, scoring 46 goals across their opening 24 matches, with 26 (57%) of those coming on home soil. The Red Army have found the back of the net in 9/12 (75%) of their league fixtures this term – striking on multiple occasions in six of their previous nine – and I’m backing them to bag another double in securing victory at home to a Cork defence that’s shipped at least two goals in 8/10 (80%) of their league assignments on their travels, including in all eight against teams positioned in 7th and above.
