BELGIUM will be bidding to make it back-to-back wins in Euro 2024 qualifying when they welcome Austria to the King Baudouin Stadium on Saturday night.
Following their agonising early exit from the World Cup in Qatar, Roberto Martinez relinquished his role as Red Devils manager after six years in charge.
Former RB Leipzig boss Domenico Tedesco has been tasked with ushering in a new era and he got his tenure off to a perfect start by steering his side to a 3-0 win away at Sweden.
The Red Devils will be looking to build on that Stockholm success by securing another three points against Austria on Saturday.
The Austrians are setting the pace in Group F following a pair of home victories over Azerbaijan and Estonia respectively.
It would be fair to say the fixture list has been rather kind to Ralf Rangnick charges thus far and that a tougher test will lie ahead in Brussels this weekend.
Outright Betting
Belgium claimed top honours when the two nations last crossed paths in 2011 and the same outcome here has been priced up as an odds-on 4/6 (William Hill) shot.
Three of the the last four meetings between the pair have ended all square but another stalemate on Saturday is an unfancied 3/1 (PaddyPower) while an away win is also deemed unlikely at 4/1 (PaddyPower).
Betting Angles
Belgium are too short to side with here so I'll instead bundle up Belgium Double Chance and Over 1 Belgium Goal at 4/5 (Bet 365).
As already alluded to, the Red Devils have made a promising start under their new manager by earning a 3-0 win at Sweden, and they followed up on that up victory with a 3-2 friendly win away at Germany.
Not only have Belgium banged in three goals in each of their two outings under Domenico Tedesco's tutorship, but it's also worth noting that the Italian has inherited a team that have scored a minimum of one goal in a whopping 59 of their last 62 matches.
What's more, the Belgians have remarkably managed to hit the back of the net at least once in all of their competitive contests on home turf dating all the way back to 2014, and I suspect they can land at least two strikes against Austria.
While Ralf Rangnick's side are residing at the top of Group, they did fail to shut out both Azerbaijan and Estonia, which doesn't bode well given that this will be in for a much sterner test in the Belgian capital.
With that in mind, coupled with the fact that this Bet Builder would have paid out in each of the Belgians two bouts under their new boss, I'm happy to support the bet in Brussels at 4/5 (Bet 365).
On a similar line of reasoning to the above, I'll also back Romelu Lukaku to get on the scoresheet at 13/8 (PaddyPower).
Belgium's all-time top scorer stole the show with hat-trick in the aforementioned 3-0 win over Sweden in March and he looks a lovely price to get in on the act once more against the Austrians.
