Sunderland will be looking to build on their draw at league leaders Burnley when they host Hull City in a Friday night Championship fixture.
Sunderland are coming off a 0-0 draw with Championship leaders Burnley in their previous fixture. They not only put up a solid defensive display to hold out against the top scorers but also had a few attacking moments with Amad Diallo hitting the woodwork in the second half.
The result did little for Sunderland's promotion playoff hopes as they remain 11th on the standings, seven points off the top six. The draw also means the Black Cats have now claimed just one win in the last seven matches, although it marks the first time they have failed to score in 20 Championship fixtures.
Sunderland have been unconvincing at the Stadium of Light lately with two wins and as many draws in their last six home matches. Tony Mowbray’s men have also failed to keep a clean sheet in their last four matches in front of their fans.

That was the third draw in four Championship matches for Hull City, who have struggled to see out wins in recent matches. Liam Rosenior’s men remain in the bottom half of the table but sit nine points clear of the relegation zone.
Hull City have found things difficult on their recent travels and are winless in their last five away matches, although three of those fixtures have ended in draws. They have also struggled to keep things tight at the back with just one clean sheet in their last seven Championship fixtures on the road.

Sunderland have a 10-5 advantage with five draws from 20 previous matches against Hull City. However, three of the last four meetings have ended in draws, including a 1-1 scoreline in the reverse fixture back in December.
Players to watch
Amad Diallo will be disappointed with the missed chances at Burnley and will be keen to set things right on Friday. The forward was on target in Sunderland’s last home fixture and is priced at 5/2 with bet365 to get on the score sheet once again.
Hull City have some attacking quality of their own, particularly with Oscar Estupinan, who is their leading scorer with 13 Championship goals. The forward could be worth keeping an eye on to score anytime on Friday at 9/4 with William Hill.
