John Higgins tackles Dave Harold today in the Wyldescrest Welsh Open with a quarter-final spot up for grabs.
One of six matches at The Newport Centre, the world No.1 from Scotland is 4-11 with Sportingbet to see off Stoke man Harold (13-5, Boylesports).
I revealed on Monday my money was going on Higgins to retain his title. He was widely available as the 5-1 favourite but now on offer at 6-1 (Bet365) as joint favourite with Ronnie O'Sullivan.
Still I'm sticking with Higgins, a player determined to retain his Wales Open title following the sad passing of his dad earlier this month.
First up today England's Shaun Murphy (4-7, Sportingbet, Paddy Power) goes in against Welshman Matthew Stevens (8-5, Boylesports).
This one could require all seven frames so Murphy 4-3 (9-2, bodog) or Stevens 4-3 (6-1, Skybet) are certainly worth a look.
Seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry is the 4-5 favourite (Boylesports, Betfred, Sportingbet) in his first-round match-up with England's Joe Perry (11-10, Skybet, Stan James).
Hendry's fellow Scot Stephen Maguire (2-5, various) should see off Northern Ireland's Gerard Greene (2-1, various).
O'Sullivan (4-9, Stan James) begins his title bid tonight against Ryan Day. The three-time world champion may be the favourite for this one but Day, playing in front of his home crowd, is worth a look (2-1, Skybet, Totesport, Chandler).
He needed just 48 minutes to dump Jimmy White 4-0 in the preliminary round on Monday when he knocked in scores of 125, 68 and 102.
Tonight's other match sees an all-England battle between the Marks – Selby (4-9, Skybet, Paddy Power) and King (2-1, Betfred,Sportingbet, Chandler).
