Burnley host Watford in a midweek Championship fixture as they continue their march towards the title.
Burnley have dominated the Championship this season and are well on course not just for promotion but also winning the title. They have spent much of the campaign at the top of the standings and have only lost once this term.
The Clarets are coming off a 3-0 home victory over Preston North End in their previous Championship fixture with Nathan Tella netting a hat-trick. That was the 10th straight Championship victory for Vincent Kompany’s men, who have looked almost unstoppable in recent weeks.
Turf Moor has been a fortress for Burnley all season as they are yet to taste defeat at home across all competitions. They are currently on a 12-match unbeaten run across all competitions in front of their fans, scoring two or more goals in 10 of those fixtures.
Watford are still vying for a playoff finish but are hanging on to the final spot by a thread after losing their way in recent weeks. They are winless in their last four matches and are only one point above the chasing pack.
The Hornets travel to Turf Moor off the back of a 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers in their previous Championship fixture. They fell behind early in the contest but struck back through Wesley Hoedt midway through the second half.
Watford have also found things difficult on their recent travels with just one win in their last five away matches. Slavan Bilic’s men have suffered three defeats in that run, although they played out a 2-2 draw with Reading in their previous fixture on the road.
How the bookies view it
Burnley have the upper hand among the bookies and are priced at 7/10 with William Hill. A victory for Watford is valued at 22/5 with SBK, who is also offering odds of 56/19 for a draw.
Head to head
Burnley have a 19-11 advantage with 11 draws from 41 previous matches against Watford. However, the Hornets claimed a 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture back in August.
Players to watch
After a mini-goal drought, Burnley top scorer Nathan Tella is back among the goals and will be the one to watch in Tuesday. The attacker has five goals in his last two matches and is priced at 7/2 by Paddy Power to score anytime.
Although not particularly prolific, Ismaila Sarr is the joint leading scorer for Watford this season with eight goals. The forward was on target in the draw at Reading and is priced at 7/2 with Paddy Power to get on the score sheet on Tuesday.
Anything else catch the eye?
Both teams have quality in attack and could be backed to score at 10/11 with William Hill. There were over 3.5 goals in Watford’s previous away fixture and a similar outcome is valued at 12/5 by bet365, who are also offering odds of 10/11 on over 2.5 goals.
Burnley are often comfortable at home and could be backed in the -1 handicap at 19/10 with Unibet.
