Juventus are attempting to recover from their points deduction as they travel to Salernitana for a midweek Serie A fixture.
Salernitana head into Tuesday’s clash off the back of a 2-1 win at Lecce in their previous Serie A fixture. They raced to a two-goal lead through Boulaye Dia and Tonny Vilhena and were able to hold on despite the hosts pulling one back.
That was a much-needed win for Salernitana as it ended a run of seven Serie A matches without a victory. The result also gave them some breathing room in the relegation battle as they are now eight points above the bottom three.
One area that still needs plenty of improvement is Salernitana's record at the Stadio Arechi. They are winless in their last four Serie A home matches and suffered a 2-0 defeat to leaders Napoli in their previous Serie A fixture in front of their fans.
Now that the points deduction has properly registered with the players, the task for Juventus will be to offset the effects as much as possible. Champions League qualification might be out of the question but they will attempt to finish as high up the table as possible.
The blow may have been heavy and dropped them into the bottom half of the table but Juventus were playing well prior to the punishment being handed down. They showed flashes of that form in last week’s Coppa Italia clash with Lazio as Bremer’s first half effort gave them a 1-0 victory.
One area that Juventus had been particularly impressive is their form on the road. Although they suffered a 5-1 defeat to Napoli in their previous away fixture, Massimiliano Allegri’s men had won four straight matches on their travels prior to that result against the Serie A leaders.
How the bookies view it
Juventus are still considered overwhelming favourites among the bookies with a win priced at 4/7 by bet365. A victory for Salernitana is valued at 11/2 with BoyleSports while a draw is set at odds of 3/1 by Paddy Power.
Head to head
Juventus have a 3-1 advantage with one draw from five previous matches with Salernitana. Both teams battled to a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture back in September while the Turin club claimed a 2-0 victory in their last visit to the Stadio Arechi.
Players to watch
Boulaye Dia has been the standout player for Salernitana this season and is their leading scorer with eight Serie A goals. Paddy Power has the striker at odds of 9/2 to get on the score sheet on Tuesday.
Federico Chiesa is always an influential player for Juventus and his recovery will be a massive boost to the Turin club. The attacker has begun to show flashes of his old form since returning to the team and having already scored once, could be backed to find the net again at 21/10 by William Hill.
Anything else catch the eye?
Defending has not been Juventus’ strenght lately and with the reverse fixture producing over 3.5 goals, a repeat could be considered at 47/20 with Unibet. Over 2.5 goals is priced at 10/11 by bet365 while Unibet is also offering evens in both teams to score.
Juventus are priced at minimal odds for a straight victory, so a win and over 2.5 goals offers more value at 17/11 with 10bet.
