PSG will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run in Ligue 1 as they host Strasbourg in midweek. The Parisians were nigh-unstoppable in the first half of the season and should be too strong for Strasbourg, who are battling near the foot of the table.
PSG have been the dominant team in Ligue 1 this season having spent the entire campaign at the top of the standings. They are five points clear of closest rivals Lens and are yet to taste defeat after 15 games this term.
The Parisians went into the international break off the back of five straight Ligue 1 wins. Christophe Galtier’s men have also won their last five home matches in the league and triumphed 5-0 over Auxerre in their final fixture before the international break.
PSG’s fine campaign has been driven by their exciting attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar. However, while Messi will miss out due to Argentina’s World Cup celebrations, Mbappe is set to return with a vengeance following the disappointment in Qatar.
While PSG are looking to maintain their dominance in Ligue 1, Strasbourg have a completely different battle on their hands. They are currently deep in the relegation zone, with just two points separating them from Brest in 16th position, there is still hope for survival.
However, the problem for Strasbourg is that they have played like a lower league side for much of the campaign. Julian Stephan’s men have claimed just one win all season, although they played out a 1-1 draw with Lorient in their final fixture before the international break.
One positive for Strasbourg is that their only win this season has come away from home. They also travel to Paris unbeaten in two of their last three away matches although their last Ligue 1 fixture on the road ended in a 4-2 defeat to fellow struggles Ajaccio.
