Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to South Lanarkshire, and I like the look of the visitors to make the net bulge at least twice against their struggling hosts.

⚽️ Hamilton Academical vs Ayr United

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Championship

⏰ Friday 11th November, 19:45

Two clubs at opposite ends of the Championship table meet in South Lanarkshire on Friday night as league leaders Ayr travel to New Douglas Park to take on bottom side Hamilton.

John Rankin’s hosts slipped to the foot of the Championship table at the weekend following their 3-1 loss at Raith Rovers. The Accies have now collected just four points from their last eight Championship matches, losing six on that run. Hamilton have the joint-worst defensive record in the second tier in Scotland, with them having shipped 27 goals across their 14 Championship tussles.

Ayr maintained their three-point lead at the top of the table, as they drew 1-1 at home to second-placed Greenock Morton on Saturday afternoon. Lee Bullen’s men won 0-2 at Arbroath in their previous away fixture, meaning they have the best win percentage on their travels in the division – being victorious in 4/6 of their away matches (67%). No side has scored more goals in the Championship than Ayr United, with The Honest Men scoring 29 times across their 14 league fixtures.

Bet of the Day

Not only are Hamilton and Ayr at opposite ends of the Scottish Championship table, but they are in contrasting form, and it’s hard to envisage Lee Bullen’s table-toppers not having too much firepower for their rock-bottom and struggling hosts.

Ayr are the leading scorers in the Scottish Championship after having scored 29 goals across their opening 14 league fixtures this season. What's more, The Honest Men have notched on multiple occasions in 10 of those matches – including in 5/6 when on the road – and there’s a strong chance they’ll bag another double against an Accies side that not only have the joint-worst defensive record in the division but who have shipped two or more goals in nine of their previous 12 league tussles – as well as in each of their last four as hosts.

  • Ayr United to Score 2+
  • Pays 11/10 (Paddy Power)
