THE Premier League is back with a bang this weekend as Arsenal entertain arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.
Mikel Arteta's men are setting the early pace in the English top-flight, having triumphed in six of their opening seven outings of the season so far.
Last time out, the Gunners continued their excellent start to the season by breezing to a 3-0 win at Brentford.
Such a strong start to the campaign has prompted some pundits to highlight Arsenal as potential Premier League winners and Tottenham’s visit should provide the home team with a stern test of their title credentials.
Antonio Conte’s team are also ticking along nicely and make the short trip across the city just one point and two places behind their fierce foes in the standings.
What's more, Spurs will certainly be buoyed by their 6-2 drubbing of Leicester before the international break, on an evening where my main selection landed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Outright Betting
Arsenal, who have lost just one of their last 14 Premier League home games against Tottenham, head into this hotly-anticipated showdown as 11/10 (SBK) favourites.
Despite being only one of two sides yet to taste defeat in the Premier League this season so far, a Tottenham triumph is trading at 13/5 (SBK) while the stalemate can be backed at 11/4 (SBK) with the same firm.
Betting Angles
Given the recent form of both teams coupled with their respective' league positions, everything points towards this dust-up being closer than the outright betting suggests.
As such, I'm going to steer clear of the 1×2 market and instead dip into William Hill's Build Your Odds feature and throw together over zero Tottenham goals and Tottenham with a + 1 start on the handicap at 19/20 (William Hill).
While Arsenal are sitting proudly at the top of the Premier League table, they have failed to keep their sheets clean in four of their seven outings so far, including each of their three home games.
That doesn't bode well given that Spurs have improved dramatically as an attacking force since Antonio Conte took the reins, racking up 78 strikes across their 35 league games under the Italians tutorship, averaging 2.2 goals per game.
It's also worth pointing out that the Lilywhites have struck at least once in all but five of those matches across that 35-game sample, not to mention they have made the bulge in each of their seven top-flight top-flight outings this term thus far.
With this in mind, coupled with the fact that the aforementioned combination has clicked in each of Spurs' seven league games this season so far, supporting the same play on Saturday stands out at 19/20 (William Hill).
Elsewhere, I'll also head to the team corner market and take the 4/5 on offer with Bet 365 for Arsenal to hit over five corners during this all-London affair.
The Gunners, who will be roared on by a passionate home crowd, have covered the 6+ flag kick line in each of their three Emirates outings this season to date, and they look a fair bet to repeat the trick against a Tottenham team that will be content to play on the counter attack.
