Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me delve into the Dutch second-tier and I like the look of the league leaders securing another three points against their struggling hosts.
FC Den Bosch vs Heracles Almelo
🇳🇱 Eerste Divisie
⏰ Friday 30th September, 19:00
Heracles will look to maintain their position at the top of the Eerste Divisie table as they travel to De Vliert to take on third from bottom Den Bosch on Friday evening.
Den Bosch claimed just their second league victory of the season last time out, as they defeated fellow strugglers Oss 4-1. Before that success, Jack de Gier’s side had lost six of their opening seven league fixtures this season – including each of their previous five. Three of those defeats came at home against the three teams directly below Heracles in the league table – conceding eight goals in those matches and scoring just two. The Blue White Dragons have the joint-worst defensive record in the Dutch second-tier, letting in 16 goals in their opening eight league fixtures.
Heracles claimed their third successive league victory last time out, as they defeated 17th-placed Helmond Sport 2-0 at home. John Lammers’ side have taken 19 points from a possible 24 in the league this season (W6-D1-L1), with their sole defeat coming away against the talented Ajax youngsters. The Almelo-based club have won all five of their fixtures against bottom-half sides so far this season – scoring 15 goals and conceding none. Only second-placed PEC Zwolle (23) have found the back of the net more times than the 22 Heracles have managed.
Bet of the Day
Heracles climbed above PEC Zwolle into top spot last Friday following their 2-0 success at home to Helmond Sport and they’ll look to stay there as they travel to De Vliert to take on Den Bosch. The hosts may have won last week against fellow strugglers Oss, but they are sitting in 18th position in the table and just a point above both De Graafschap and Jong Utrecht.
John Lammers’ visitors have W6-D1-L1 in the league this season, but that record changes to W5-D0-L0 when coming up against sides in the bottom half. The Almelo-based club have scored 15 and conceded zero in those matches against bottom-half sides, and given Den Bosch have already lost 1-2, 1-3 and 0-3 at home to the three sides directly below Heracles in the table, I’m happy to back the in-form visitors to win and to score at least twice – something they have achieved in all six of their league victories this season.
