York has arrived and I’m delighted that we’ve another ram-packed few days of top-quality horse racing!
On day one, all eyes are on the almighty Baheed as he steps up in distance and is expected to destroy the rest of the field by the sounds of it. I’ll not be having a bet on that particular race but 4/9 you could argue isn’t bad value given how impressive he is.
I’ve gone for 2 predictions for tomorrow's racing and fingers crossed we can land a set of winners.
Bond Chairman ( TO PLACE ) 7/2 – York 1:50
I tend to normally avoid tipping in these big sprint handicaps as picking the winner is a complete lottery but given most bookmakers are offering 6 places I’ve opted to have a bet on Bond Chairman to place at odds of 7/2.
Big sprint handicaps is where Bond Chairman has been seen most this season. All 3 of those handicaps were at Ascot.
Ascot is a stiff track and he has run incredibly well there on all 3 visits hitting the frame every time hence my option to take him to hit the frame again.
I can’t see the switch of scenery to York causing much bother, he was at York previous to the runs at Ascot when finishing 4th of 11 in a class 3 and has taken a step forward since that particular run.
He’s one of the 4 3yr olds in the field and is getting some weight from other rivals and I think he could outrun his odds of 16/1 if turning up on similar form as he has done recently.
Local Dynasty 2/1 – 2:25 York
Tipping on 2-year-olds in fields as competitive as this will always come with its risks. They can always spring a surprise with the possibility of a horse taking a massive step forward and progressing but from what I’ve seen Local Dynasty looks the pick of the lot.
You have to trust Charlie Appleby's judgement on his horses and given Local Dynasty has entries in both the Dewhurst and Royal lodge he must rate his runner in some regard.
Local Dynasty won pretty impressively on debut at Newmarket when drawing clear by roughly 3 or 4 lengths and that win was made even more impressive as he got loose before the start.
As expected, William Buick takes the ride tomorrow.
On paper and from watching a few replays of other horses in the field I can see this coming down as a straight dual between Local Dynasty and the M O’Callaghan trained Indestructible who took a massive step forward from the run at Curragh to win at Windsor and steps up to 7f tomorrow which connections feel will suit perfectly.
I wouldn’t throw the wallet at this particular race as previously mentioned they can sometimes throw a surprise but Local Dynasty looks the pick of the bunch for me.
Good luck!
