Thursday’d Football Bet of the Day see’s me stay in Scandinavia and there’s two fixtures in the Norwegian second-tier that I like the look of for goals to form a solid looking double.

Sandnes Ulf vs Sogndal

🇳🇴 OBOS-Ligaen

⏰ Thursday 4th August, 17:00

Two sides currently positioned in the promotion play-off places meet at the Øster Hus Arena, as third-placed Sandnes Ulf play host to fifth-placed Sogndal.

Sandnes Ulf saw their four-match winning run come to an end last time out, as they drew 1-1 at fellow in-form side Raufoss. Bjarne Berntsen’s side have found the back of the net in each of their last 10 league matches and come into this encounter having scored 15 goals in their last five league outings. The Wolves have only managed one clean sheet at home this season, conceding 16 goals in their eight matches as hosts.

Sogndal extended their unbeaten run to five matches last time out, as they drew 1-1 away to mid-table Åsane. Tore André Flo’s side have found the back of the net in all bar one of their opening 17 league fixtures this season and travel to Sandnes having scored 15 goals in their last last six league outings. Sogndal have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last seven on their travels, letting in 16 goals in that run.

Skeid vs Ranheim

🇳🇴 OBOS-Ligaen

⏰ Thursday 4th August, 17:00

Two teams at opposite ends of the OBOS-Ligaen table meet at the Nordre Åsen, as third from bottom Skeid play host to second-placed Ranheim.

Skeid suffered their 14th loss this season in their last league outing, as they lost 2-0 at promotion-chasing Stabæk. Gard Holme’s side are one of three sides in the Norwegian second-tier yet to register a single clean sheet this season, with the Oslo-based club also possessing the second-worst defensive record in the division, conceding on 38 occasions. Skeid have found the back of the net in 8/9 of their home matches this season, with The Bulls scoring on multiple occasions in six of them.

For the second successive match, Ranheim came from a goal down to win 2-1, overcoming strugglers Stjørdals-Blink last time out. Hugo Pereira’s side have found the back of the net in 14/16 of their league fixtures this season (including all eight away from home) and come into this having scored on multiple occasions in each of their last 11 OBOS-Ligaen fixtures. Ranheim have managed just two clean sheets in their opening 17 league matches this season, conceding in 7/8 of their matches on their travels, including in each of their last five.

Bet of the Day

Both Sandnes Ulf and Sogndal come into this fixture in fine goal-scoring form and it’s hard not to envisage goals when the pair meet at the Øster Hus Arena early Thursday evening. These two attack-minded sides have scored in 30/34 of their league outings this season and given Bjarne Berntsen’s hosts have conceded in 7/8 of their home matches and Tore André Flo’s visitors have conceded in each of their last seven away, there’s a strong chance we’ll see these two high-scoring sides get on the scoresheet once more.
The OBOS-Ligaen’s joint second-worst defence hosts the divisions second-best attack also meet early Thursday evening at the Nordre Åsen and we should see at least three strikes here. Ranheim have remarkably scored on multiple occasions in each of their last 11 league outings and I expect the Trondheim-based club to score at least twice against a Skeid defence that’s already let in 38 goals. However, Skeid have scored in 8/9 at home, scoring at least twice in six of them and I expect them too to get on the scoresheet against a Ranheim side that’s recorded only two clean sheets in the league this season.

  • Sandnes Ulf vs Sogndal – Both Teams to Score
  • Skeid vs Ranheim – Over 2.5 Goals
  • Double Pays 5/4 (William Hill)

I’m fully aware I’m on a horrendous run at the moment and I can only apologise to all those who have followed in the last week or so. Just like good ones, bad runs of form is something that is part and parcel in this industry but I’m fully focused on getting back to winning ways, hopefully starting tomorrow! Thanks to everyone for their support in the last few days 👍🏼
