Football Bet of the Day: Another entertaining clash involving Sassuolo

Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into Serie A and their a match that stands out to me for goals. To boost the price up, I’ve added in a cards angle.

Two sides lying in mid-table in the Serie A table meet at the Mapei Stadium, as Sassuolo host Udinese. The hosts are currently positioned in 11th, one place and three points above their visiting opponents.

Sassuolo suffered their fourth defeat from their last five games last time out, as they were hammered 6-1 away to Napoli, with their late consolation help bring up last Saturdays Bet of the Day. The problem all season for Alessio Dionisi’s side is the amount of goals they’ve been letting in. They’ve managed to keep just three clean sheets all season, with only four of the bottom five and Empoli having let in more goals than the 61 they’ve let in. However, The Neroverdi have had no trouble at the other end of the pitch, finding the back of the net in 30/35 of their Serie A matches, scoring a total of 60 goals. Sassuolo have been carded in all bar one of their Serie A outings this season, whilst their opponents have been carded in 33/35 of their fixtures, earning two or more in 29 of them.

Udinese suffered only their second defeat in their last seven, as they lost 1-2 at home to reigning champions Inter last time out. Gabrielle Cioffi’s visitors have been in fine goal-scoring form in recent weeks, finding the back of the net in 11 of their last 12 fixtures, scoring on multiple occasions in each of their last three away, scoring four away to Fiorentina on their last away outing. Udinese have recorded seven clean sheets in the league this season, with five of them coming against the current bottom four. Le Zebrette have been carded in every Serie A match this season, earning two or more in 30 of them, whilst their opponents have received a card in 28 of their fixtures this season.

Bet of the Day

Goals are always on the agenda in matches involving Sassuolo and I’m expecting nothing to change when they host Udinese at Saturday teatime. The Neroverdi have recorded just three clean sheets all season and given the visitors have scored in 11 of their last 12, I’m not expecting them to keep one here. Sassuolo do rarely fail to score and with five of Udinese’s seven clean sheets this season coming against the bottom four, I’m confident we’ll see both sides get on the scoresheet. To boost the price up, I’ve decided to add in cards. Gabrielle Cioffi’s visitors have been carded in all 35 matches this season, earning multiple cards in 30 of them and with 15/17 of Sassuolo’s visitors receiving two or more cards, I’m happy to back Udinese to get at least two here. Sassuolo have been carded in all bar one of their Serie A matches tho season, therefore should pick up at least one themselves in what should be a competitive fixture in Emilia-Romagna.
