SlipsTips takes a look at the Bet Builder market ahead of Rangers and Celtic's hotly-anticipated Old Firm showdown at Ibrox on Sunday.
Rangers vs Celtic (Sunday, 12:00)
Rangers head into their Old Firm showdown with Celtic on Sunday looking for the victory which would make it level at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
The reigning champions trail the Hoops by three points and they can ill-afford to let their arch-rivals widen the gap this weekend.
Not only can Celtic strengthen their title bid with victory at Ibrox on Sunday, they can also strike a possibly fatal blow to Rangers’ hopes of retaining their crown.
However, history suggests it's probably best to avoid this fixture from a 1X2 betting perspective and I’m therefore happy to highlight an alternative offering by dipping into Bet 365’s Bet Builder feature to combine over zero Celtic goals and over three Celtic corners at 4/5 (Bet 365)
Whilst having the vast majority of a packed partisan crowd roaring them on will give the hosts a huge advantage, Rangers' defensive standards have slipped this season.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have conceded at least one goal in 17 of their 31 (54.8%) league games this season, including six of their last 11 top-flight outings.
What’s more, the Light Blues’ backline has been breached in three of their last five Scottish Premiership matches, a sample that includes fixtures with out-of-form duo Dundee and Motherwell.
That doesn’t bode well when you consider Celtic, who possess the most potent attack in the division, have avoided defeat in each of their last 25 league games, a streak that dates back to September.
It’s also worth pointing out that Ange Postecoglou’s attack-minded outfit have made the net bulge at least once in 22 of those 25 aforementioned matches, scoring multiple goals in a sizable 18 of those games.
As such, I’m happy to side with at least one Celtic strike on Sunday, but to boost the odds, I’ll also back the visitors to hit a minimum of four corners.
The high-octane Hoops have been attacking relentlessly all season and that has contributed to them averaging a whopping 9.68 corners per-game, covering the 4+ line in all but one of their last 27 top-flight tussles.
With all of this in mind, as well as the fact that the same Bet Builder paid out when the pair locked horns at Parkhead February, I’m more than happy to support the same combination here in what promises to be a captivating contest.
