Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into the Australian A-League and there’s a match that appeals to me for goals.

Brisbane Roar vs Wellington Phoenix

🇦🇺 A-League

⏰ Wednesday 30th March, 09:05

Two sides currently outside the playoff places in the A-League meet at the Moreton Daily Stadium, as Brisbane Roar host Wellington Phoenix. The hosts are currently 11th, seven points behind their opponents who are only outside of the top-six on goal difference.

Despite taking an early lead in both, Brisbane come into this having lost each of their last two matches, losing 1-2 against league leaders Melbourne City, before losing 2-3 against second-placed Western United. Prior to those two defeats, Warren Moor’s side had won back-to-back matches in the A-League, as well as each of their last three at home. Brisbane have found the back of the net in each of their last seven on home turf, scoring on multiple occasions in four of their previous five. Brisbane have kept just three clean sheets in their opening 17 A-League fixtures this season, with neither of them coming in any of their last nine. Only two sides in the A-League have conceded more than Brisbane, with The Roar conceding on 27 occasions.

Wellington scored a 97th minute winner at home to bottom side Perth Glory last time out to keep up their impressive record on home turf. However, the New Zealand-based club have collected just a solitary point on their travels this season, losing each of their last five. No side has kept fewer clean sheets in the Australian top-flight this season than Wellington (2), with both of those coming at home. Ufuk Talay’s side have also conceded 27 times this season, with 17 of those coming in their six fixtures away from home. The Nix have found the back of the net in 12/16 of their matches in the A-League this season, scoring on 21 occasions.

Bet of the Day

Both sides come into this fixture outside the top-six and know a win here is in important if they wish to make the end-of-season playoffs. Brisbane have found the back of the net in each of their last seven at home, scoring on multiple occasions in four of their last five and will fancy their chances in-front of goal against a Wellington side that’s conceded 17 times in just six matches away from home. The Roar are without a clean sheet in their last nine and with Wellington finding the back of the net in 12 of their 16 matches, there’s a good chance they’ll get on the scoresheet. Given both sides records at both ends of the pitch, there’s a good chance we’ll see both get on the scoresheet and that should lead us to over 2.5 goals, a selection that’s came up in the previous two fixtures between these two this season.

Thanks Sean 👍🏼 Amazed Brisbane didn’t score, just the 36 attempts at goal 😮
