Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into both the German second-tier and the Italian top-flight. I’m backing two sides at the top of their respective leagues to collect all three points against the team at the bottom.
Werder Bremen vs Ingolstadt
🇩🇪 2. Bundesliga
⏰ Saturday 19th February, 12:30
Werder Bremen will look to go top of the 2. Bundlesliga, as they host bottom-side Ingolstadt. The hosts come into this in second, behind St Pauli only on goal difference, whilst the visitors 10 points adrift of automatic safety.
Werder Bremen extended their winning run to seven in the 2. Bundesliga last time out, as they won 1-2 away to Hansa Rostock. The Green & Whites are unbeaten in their last six at the Weserstadion, winning each of their last three. Ole Werner’s side have W9-D3-L2 against bottom-half sides, winning 4/5 at home. Die Werederaner are the fourth-highest scorers in the German second-tier, finding the back of the net on 43 occasions, with 22 of those goals coming in their last seven matches.
Ingolstadt’s failed to make it back-to-back victories last time out, as they could only draw at home to fellow strugglers Sandhausen. Ingolstadt have collected seven points from their last six matches, half of their entire points tally. Die Schanzer have W1-D1-L10 against top-half sides, with all four points gained coming against Nürnberg. No side has conceded more goals on their travels than Ingolstadt, with Rüdiger Rehm’s side conceding 25 goals in their 11 matches away from home.
Salernitana vs Milan
🇮🇹 Serie A
⏰ Saturday 19th February, 19:45
Milan will look to extend their lead at the top of the Serie A table, as they travel to the Stadio Arechi to take on bottom-side Salernitana. The visitors are currently a point clear of city-rivals Inter, whilst the hosts are nine points adrift of safety.
Salernitana drew 1-1 against relegation-rivals Genoa at the Marassi last time out, meaning the bottom-side have now drawn back-to back matches in Serie A. The Granata have now won just one of their last 13 matches in the league, losing nine of them. Salernitana have lost all 10 matches against sides in the top-eight, with six of those defeats coming at home. Not only have Salernitana got the leakiest defence in Serie A (53) but they’re also the lowest scorers, fining the back of the net on just 17 occasions.
Milan built on their 1-2 victory in the Milan derby, as they defeated Sampdoria 1-0 last time out thanks to a Rafael Leão strike. Only Atalanta (30) have picked up more points on their travels in Serie A than Milan, with the Rossoneri collecting 29 points out of a possible 36. Milan have a good record against bottom-half sides, with Stefano Pioli’s side having a record of W10-D1-L2. Only Inter and Lazio have outscored Milan this season, with the Rossoneri finding the back of the net 50 times.
Bet of the Day
Werder Bremen are the form team in the German second-tier, with Die Werderaner winning each of their last seven and know if they make it eight they’ll go top of the table. They’ll be confident of getting that win as they take on an Ingolstadt side that’s bottom of the league and collected just 14 points from their opening 22 matches. Ole Werner’s hosts have scored 22 goals in their last seven matches and I’m backing them to score at least twice in victory against a side that’s already conceded 25 goals in their 11 matches away from home. Milan are currently a point clear at the top of the Serie A table and they’ll be confident of extending that to four as they travel to bottom-side Salernitana on Saturday evening. Milan have W9-D2-L1 away from home this season, the second-best away record in Serie A and the Rossoneri should comfortably dispatch a Salernitana side that’s collected just 12 points all season and thats lost all 10 of their matches against the current top-eight.
