Having delivered winning selections in each of his last three featured columns, SlipsTips is back to share three angles of attack ahead of Saturday's flurry of SPFL fixtures.
Kilmarnock vs Inverness (Saturday, 15:00)
Derek McInnes will look to continue his unbeaten start to life in the Scottish Championship as Kilmarnock manager, when his side welcome Inverness to Rugby Park.
The former Aberdeen boss oversaw a win against Queen of the South and a draw away at Patrick Thistle, before watching his side produce a very spirited display against top flight outfit Dundee United, where they ultimately came unstuck during extra-time.
Killie now turn their attention to Saturday's clash with Inverness, with the third-placed hosts looking to lay down a title marker and leapfrog their opponents in the league table in the process.
The Ayrshire side, who have have signalled their intent during the transfer window with some eye-catching additions, will have their backers at a general 11/10, but I'm more than happy to instead side with the 50/59 (MansionBet) on Kilmarnock -0-25 in the Asian Handicap.
This selection sees our stakes split, with half going on Kilmarnock draw no bet and the other half going on the outright win, and that makes appeal considering Billy Dodds' guests are without a win in their last five Scottish Championship fixtures.
Whilst a clash with Caley is never an easy task, Kilmarnock come in on a relative high following the appointment of McInnes and his quality-filled squad look solid value with a -0-25 start at 50/59 (MansionBet).
Recommended Bet
- Kilmarnock -0.25 (Asian Handicap)– 50/59 (MansionBet)
Dundee vs St Mirren (Saturday, 15:00)
Two teams trending in opposite directions in the Scottish Premiership go toe-to-toe on Saturday at Dens Park, as Dundee play host St Mirren.
I've already penned a separate match preview on this City of Discovery dust-up but I've since identified a Bet Builder that makes appeal.
If we combine each team to receive a card and over three match cards we cards we will be presented with a backable 4/5 (Bet 365) shot.
Dundee are currently occupying second place in the Scottish Premiership disciplinary standings with a sizable 2.55 yellow card per-game average, while St Mirren's tally sits at 1.86 per 90 minutes.
Referee Kevin Clancy oversees this contest, with the Scottish whistler averaging a lofty 4.7 cards per outing, not to mention the aforementioned Bet Builder would have delivered profit from six of the the last seven top flight tussles he has taken charge of.
With that in mind, coupled with a closely-fought contest between two clubs with very different priorities anticipated, siding with the same play here stands out at 4/5 (Bet 365).
Recommended Bet
- Over 0 Dundee Cards
- Over 0 St Mirren Cards
- Over 3 Match Cards
- Bet Builder – 4/5 (Bet 365)
Kelty Hearts vs Stranraer (Saturday, 15:00)
Kelty Hearts will look to get their Scottish League Two title bid back on track when they square off with Stranraer at Central Park on Saturday.
The Maroon Machine crashed to a shock 2-0 defeat at Elgin in midweek, meaning they have taken just one point from the last six on offer, but they are sitting on a comfortable seven-point lead at the summit of the standings having played a game less than the two sides directly below them.
That said, Kevin Thomson will demand a response from his team this weekend and a fixture with Stranraer may just be what they need to reignite their season.
The Stair Park side snapped a five-game winless streak with a 1-0 at basement-club Cowdenbeath last weekend, but it will be fair to say that there will be a huge step up in class here.
You won't get rich backing Kelty Hearts at a lowly 3/10 but we can get some 21/20 (Boylesports) when backing the hosts in the Half Time/Full Time market and that looks like a worthy boost in price.
Overall, Kelty have been leading at the interval before going on to claim all three points in 10 (50%) of 20 Scottish League Two fixtures, yet the odds imply a 48.8% chance of the same bet copping on Saturday.
Recommended Bet
- Kelty Hearts Half Time/Full Time– 21/20 (Boylesports)
