Friday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on the German Bundesliga and the Italian Serie A. I’ve picked a selection from each league which I like the look of to give us a nice odds against double.
Bayern Munich vs Wolfsburg
🇩🇪 Bundesliga
⏰ Friday 17th December, 19:30
Perennial Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich host Wolfsburg at the Allianz Arena. The hosts are once again top of the table, six points clear of nearest rivals Borussia Dortmund. The visitors are languishing in 11th and are just three points above the relegation playoff spot.
Bayern Munich collected another three points last time out as they won away to Stuttgart 0-5 to bring up the first part of Tuesday’s double. That’s now four wins on the bounce in the Bundesliga for Bayern Munich and eight wins out of nine. Bayern have been near perfect at home this season, winning seven out of eight, scoring an impressive 25 goals. Bayern have scored at least twice in all bar one of their 13 Bundesliga victories this term, scoring three or more in 10 of them.
Despite leading the game 2-1, Wolfsburg lost 2-3 at home to Köln, a result that saw the visitors leapfrog Wolfsburg in the table. That defeat means it’s now five without a win for Florian Kohfeldt’s side, losing each of their last four. After winning their opening four matches in the Bundesliga, Wolfsburg have gone on to take just eight points from their last 12 matches, losing eight of them. Wolfsburg have conceded on multiple occasions nine times this season, including in all eight of their defeats.
Salernitana vs Inter Milan
🇮🇹 Serie A
⏰ Friday 17th December, 19:45
Top and bottom meet at the Arechi Stadium in Serie A as Inter travel to face Salernitana. The visitors come into this weekend top of Serie A, one point above city rivals AC Milan. The hosts, on the other hand, are rooted to the foot of the table and are four points from safety.
Salernitana were thumped 4-0 away to Fiorentina last time out to bring up the first part of last Saturday’s double. That’s now seven games without a win in Serie A for I Granata, losing six of them, with their only point coming against fellow strugglers Cagliari. In fact, that late equaliser against the Sardinians is Salernitana’s only goal in their last seven matches, losing each of their last six to nil. It therefore comes as no surprise that Salernitana are the lowest scorers in Serie A, scoring just 11 goals in 17 matches. All eight of Salernitana’s points have came against bottom half sides, with them losing all nine against top half sides.
Inter come into this as one of the form sides in Serie A, with their 4-0 win over Cagliari last time out making it five successive wins for the Nerazzurri. In each of their last four wins, Inter have found the back of the net on 11 occasions, conceding none. Only Napoli have kept more clean sheets and conceded fewer goals in Serie A than Inter, with the champions keeping seven clean sheets and conceding just 13 goals in their opening 17 matches. Inter have a tremendous record against sides in the bottom half, with them unbeaten in eight matches, winning seven.
Bet of the Day
Once again, Bayern Munich are top of the Bundesliga table and are on course to win their 10th successive title. FC Hollywood have won 13 of their 16 matches this season, including eight of their last nine and will fully expect to collect another three points against an out of form Wolfsburg. Florian Kohfeldt’s side are five without a win in the Bundesliga, losing each of their last four and the last place they want to be travelling to is the Allianz Arena. Bayern are unsurprisingly the leading scorers in the Bundesliga with 52 and should score at least twice against a hapless Wolfsburg side. Inter have been in scintillating form recently and have taken top spot above city rivals AC Milan. The Nerazzurri have collected 22 points from their last eight matches and should collect another three against bottom side Salernitana. I Granata have taken just one point and scored just one goal in their last seven in Serie A and I can’t see them troubling the champions here. 10/12 of Inter’s victories in Serie A have saw fewer than five goals, including all six away. Also, 11/13 of Salernitana’s defeats have saw fewer than five goals, including each of their last six and with them struggling for goals and Inter tight at the back, I’m happy to back an Inter win featuring fewer than five goals.
