Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on Serie A. I’ve picked my best two selections from Italy which I like the look of to give us a nice odds against double.
Juventus vs Sassuolo
🇮🇹 Serie A
⏰ Wednesday 27th October, 17:30
In form Juventus take on mid-table Sassuolo at the Allianz Stadium in Serie A on Wednesday. The hosts are currently in 6th position and already 10 points behind league leaders Napoli and AC Milan. The visitors lie in 13th position on 11 points.
A late Paolo Dybala penalty salvaged a 1-1 draw in the Derby D’Italia on Sunday against Inter to extend The Old Lady’s run of nine games unbeaten in all competitions. Prior to that draw with Inter, Juventus had won six games in a row, including four successive 1-0 victories. Juventus are now unbeaten in their last four home games in all competitions, winning each of their last three. Juventus done the double over Sassuolo last season and have never lost at home to the Neroverdi, winning seven of their eight previous tussles.
It’s been a difficult start for new Sassuolo coach Alessio Dionisi with his side only in 13th position. Sassuolo did defeat newly promoted Venezia last time out but threw away a two goal lead away to strugglers Genoa prior to that. Sassuolo have already lost away to both Atalanta and Roma as well as losing at home to Inter, all sides in the current top six of Serie A. Sassuolo have only defeated Juventus once in their previous 16 attempts, losing 12 of them.
Empoli vs Inter Milan
🇮🇹 Serie A
⏰ Wednesday 27th October, 19:45
The current Serie A champions travel to the Stadio Carlo Castellani to take on newly promoted Empoli. The visitors lie in 3rd and are already seven points behind Napoli and city rivals AC Milan. The hosts have made a decent start and lie in 9th position.
After suffering back to back defeats to both Atalanta and Roma, Empoli secured an impressive 2-4 victory away to bottom side Salernitana. However, those two second half Salernitana goals now mean Empoli have shipped 2+ goals in seven of their nine league matches, including in all five home games. Empoli have lost four of their five home matches in Serie A,with European chasing Atalanta and Lazio already winning 1-3 and 1-4 respectively.
Inter will look to get back to winning ways after losing to Lazio and drawing with Juventus in their last two matches. The Nerazzurri remain the leagues top goalscorer’s with 24, with themselves and city rivals AC the only two sides to score in all nine Serie A matches. Inter have scored on multiple occasions in all seven of their league games prior to those games against Lazio and Juventus. Inter have won three of their five away games in Serie A, defeating 7th placed Fiorentina, 11th placed Hellas Verona and 13th placed Sassuolo.
Bet of the Day
Massimiliano Allegri is finally getting the best out of his Juventus side after a poor start to the season, with them now nine games unbeaten in all competitions. They’ve now won four of their last five Serie A matches including their last two at home and will be confident of defeating a Sassuolo side who they’ve dominated since their promotion to Serie A in 2013. Sassuolo haven’t had a great start to the season and I don’t expect it to improve in Turin. Inter need to get back to winning ways and the top scorers in Serie A will fancy their chances against newly promoted Empoli. The hosts have been leaky defensively so far this season and have lost four of their five home games. With it being a must win game for the Nerazzurri, I’m backing them to grab all three points and score at least twice in doing so.
- Juventus to win
- Inter Milan to win & over 1.5 goals
- Double Pays 7/5 (BoyleSports)
