Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on both the English Championship and the Champions League. I’ve picked a selection from each competition in which I fancy goals in to give us a nicely priced double.
QPR vs Blackburn Rovers
🏴 Championship
⏰ Tuesday 19th October, 19:45
Blackburn Rovers travel to West London to take on QPR at Loftus Road. Both these sides are only separated by one place and one point, with QPR a place above Blackburn in 8th.
After successive victories at home to both Birmingham City and Preston North End, QPR were thumped 4-1 by near neighbours Fulham last time out. That now means that only Peterborough United and Cardiff City have conceded more goals than QPR’s 20 in the Championship. QPR have conceded in six of their last seven matches, conceding 15 goals. QPR do score goals though and are the only side in the Championship to score in all 12 games. Only rivals Fulham have scored more than QPR’s 23 strikes, with 11 of them goals coming in their six home games.
Blackburn threw away a two goal lead last time out as they drew 2-2 with Coventry City to make it three games without a win. Blackburn do usually score goals though, with them only failing to score once this season. Only Fulham and opponents QPR have scored more goals than Blackburn’s total of 21, with 10 of them coming in their last four matches. Clean sheets have been harder to come by for Blackburn, keeping only two in their 12 league games so far. Blackburn have conceded 16 goals in the Championship so far, with seven of them coming in their last three fixtures.
Ajax vs Borussia Dortmund
🇪🇺 Champions League
⏰ Tuesday 19th October, 20:00
German giants Borussia Dortmund travel to the Dutch capital to take on Ajax at the Johan Cruyff ArenA. Both sides have made perfect starts to their Champions League campaigns, winning both of their opening two fixtures.
Ajax got back to winning ways at the weekend as they defeated Heerenveen 0-2 away from home in the Eredivisie. Ajax are currently a point above PSV in the Eredivisie, with them also being the leagues top goalscorer’s, scoring aye eye catching 32 goals in just nine games, with 22 of those goals coming in their five home games. Ajax also dismantled Portuguese champions Sporting Lisbon 1-5 in their own backyard before a securing a comfortable 2-0 victory over the Turkish champions Besiktas.
Borussia Dortmund come into this off the back of successive victories as they defeated Augsburg 2-1 before defeating a stingy Mainz side 3-1 at the weekend. Borussia Dortmund have also been scoring plenty of goals domestically as they’ve scored 22 goals in just eight Bundesliga matches. They are however yet to keep a clean sheet sheet in the Bundesliga, conceding 14 goals in those eight matches. Dortmund defeated Besiktas 1-2 on MD1 in what should’ve been a bigger margin of victory before defeating Sporting Lisbon 1-0 in Germany.
Bet of the Day
Two of the Championship’s highest scoring sides meet at Loftus Road on Tuesday evening in what should be an entertaining clash. Both sides don’t keep too many clean sheets and with attacking quality such as Ilias Chair, Lyndon Dykes, Ben Brereton Diaz and Sam Gallagher on either side, I’m expecting goals with both sides scoring. Both Ajax and Borussia Dortmund are known for their attacking styles of play, with both sides scoring plenty of goals. Both sides posses two strikers in form in the form of Sebastian Haller and Erling Haaland and with other attacking quality on the park, we should see goals here also with both sides contributing.
- QPR vs Blackburn Rovers – Both Teams to Score
