Thursday Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on two Scottish sides who look set to progress to the play off round in both the Europa League and the Conference League.

Celtic vs Jablonec

🇪🇺 UEFA Europa League

⏰ Thursday 12th August, 19:45

Celtic host Jablonec in the 2nd leg of their 3rd round qualifier at Celtic Park on Thursday evening. Celtic have the advantage as they won 2-4 over in the Czech Republic last week.

After victory in the Czech Republic last week, Celtic got their first win in the league this season, thumping newly promoted Dundee 6-0 at a Celtic Park on Sunday. That was Celtic’s 1st clean sheet of the season and now makes it 10 goals scored in back to back victories. Celtic are unbeaten in their last 8 home games, winning 6 with only Rangers and Midtjylland avoiding defeat.

After defeat in the 1st leg, Jablonec drew 2-2 at home to Bohemians 1905 in the league. Since a 1-0 league win over Baník Ostrava, Jablonec have failed to win any of their three competitive games, losing twice and conceding 9 goals. Jablonec have lost their only away games this season, losing 3-0 Mladá Boleslav.

Aberdeen vs Breidablik

🇪🇺 UEFA Conference League

⏰ Thursday 12th August, 19:45

Aberdeen host Breidablik in the 2nd leg of their 3rd round qualifier at Pittodrie on Thursday evening. Aberdeen have the advantage as they won 2-3 in Iceland last week.

Aberdeen followed up their win in Iceland with a stoppage time winner at Livingston which was gifted to them by the Livingston goalkeeper. It’s been an impressive start to the season for Aberdeen, winning 4 of their 5 games scoring 12 times. 7 of those goals have came in their two home games, including hitting Swedish side Häcken for 5 in the previous round.

Breidablik bounced back from their defeat to Aberdeen last week by winning 1-3 away to Stjarnan in the Úrvalsdeild. Breidablik are yet to keep a clean in their 10 away games in the league and Europe conceding 20 goals. Breidablik have only kept a clean sheet at home to Luxembourg side Racing in Europe so far, conceding 7 times.

Bet of the Day

Celtic were far too strong for a fairly poor Jablonec side last week and if it weren’t for another couple of defensive mistakes, would’ve had this tie totally wrapped up. However, I’m backing them to comfortably seal their passage to the next round in front of the Celtic Park faithful. Despite throwing away a 2 goal lead, Aberdeen eventually got their win in Iceland. I’m expecting an open game and with the extra space and their extra quality, I’m backing Aberdeen to score at least 2 goals.

  • Celtic to win & over 1.5 goals
  • Aberdeen to score over 1.5 goals
  • Double Pays 13/10 (William Hill)
