SlipsTips shares his favourite fancy from the Scottish League Cup on Saturday.
Dundee United vs Arbroath (Saturday, 15:00)
Dundee United will be aiming to make it three wins on the spin in the Premier Sports Cup when they play host to Arbroath on Saturday.
The appointment of Tam Courts was met with backlash by some sections of the Tangerines fanbase but the United youth supremo has posted two wins from two in Group B so far.
The Terrors dished out a 6-1 trouncing to Elgin on Tuesday night and another home win against Arbroath on Saturday would all but secure top spot in the section.
However, Arbroath continue to punch above their weight under Dick Campbell's astute management – the Smokies also have six points on the board after two rounds of fixtures.
That said, a trip to Tannadice will represent a significant upgrade on Abroath's previous pool challenges and that is reflected in the betting, with a Dundee United win trading at a general 8/11.
Indeed, those odds make some appeal but we can get some 4/5 (RedZone) on Dundee United to score two or more goals and that looks like a worthy boost in price.
New Dundee United chief Courts has promised a more attacking brand of football this season and there were some early signs of promise when Elgin were put to the sword in midweek.
Lawrence Shankland will undoubtedly be a key cog in the wheel for Courts this season and the Dundee United striker has already chalked up three goals across two Group B bouts so far.
Granted, Arbroath are a notoriously tough nut to crack but the semi-professional guest failed to register a clean sheet in 11 of their 13 Scottish Championship road trips last term, shipping two or more goals in a lofty seven matches from that sample.
With that in mind, coupled with the fact that the Scottish Premiership hosts will be brimming with confidence after banging in six goals on Tuesday night, I'm more than happy to proceed with a punt on two or more Dundee United goals at 4/5 (RedZone) on Saturday.
