ENGLAND will be bidding to reach their first major tournament final since the 1966 World Cup when they welcome Denmark to Wembley on Wednesday night.
Football fever has well and truly gripped the English nation following the Three Lions thumping 4-0 win over Ukraine on Saturday night.
That triumph, coupled with a favourable draw, means that Gareth Southgate's side are now ranked as the bookies favourites to win Euro 2020.
Next up for Southgate and Co, amid soaring expectations, is a semi-final showdown with a Denmark side who ousted Czech Republic in the quarter-finals.
The Danes have responded admirably in the face of adversity after Christian Eriksen's collapse, a horror incident that has created an unbreakable bond between Danish players and supporters alike.
As such, Kasper Hjulmand‘s team seem to be gaining in strength with every game that they play so they should provide tournament favourites England with a stern test under the Wembley arch.
Outright Betting
England have fallen at the penultimate hurdle at major tournaments on four occasions since winning the World Cup in 1966 but the Three Lions are heavily fancied here at 8/11 with Bet 365.

Denmark will take confidence from last October's Nations League victory at this venue but another Wembley win is an unfancied 9/2 (William Hill) while a stalemate after 90 minutes is also deemed unlikely at 13/5 with UniBet.
Betting Angles
England are worthy favourites on Wednesday night but I suspect this semi-final clash could be a bit tighter than the odds suggest.
I'm therefore going to swerve the match result market and instead head to Bet 365‘s Bet Builder and combine under four match goals, over zero England goals and over zero Denmark cards, a 4/5 (Bet 365) shot.
Five of England's last seven matches have featured one goal or fewer, not to mention Southgate's star-studded side have posted clean sheets in 10 of their last 11 international tussles.
As for Denmark, their upward trajectory in recent years can be attributed to their well-schooled defence, with the Red-White recording 13 clean sheets across their last 26 competitive contests.
Having said that, Denmark have failed to shutout their opponents in four of their five outings at Euro 2020 thus far while England have made the net bulge in 22 of their last 25 meaningful matches on home soil.
With all of that in mind, I'm happy to combine under four match goals alongside at least one England strike, but in order to nudge up the price, I'll throw over zero Denmark cards into the mix.
England have entertained four sides at Wembley en-route to the semi final stage and each of those visiting teams have seen at least one card when trying to tame the Three Lions.
That train of thought is going to lead me to a second Bet Builder, namely, over one Denmark card and over two Denmark corners, an eye-catching even-money (Bet 365) play.
Three of England's four Euro 2020 opponents at Wembley to date have totted up two more bookings and given that the stakes couldn't be higher here, I fancy the Danes to follow suit.
I'll complete the combination with over two Denmark corners – the Danes have posted high flag kick counts throughout the tournament (6.8 corners per game average) and they could well find themselves chasing the game at Wembley on Wednesday night.
