WALES play their final game before Euro 2020 against an improving Albania side on Saturday at Cardiff.
Rob Page's side lost against France in midweek, but that was no disgrace and it was reduced to a farce because Wales had to play for ten men for most of the game after Neco Williams was sent off midway through the first half. Previous to that, they had won four of their last five games – all at home against Ireland, Finland, Czech Republic and Mexico.
Albania were actually at the last European Championships, the only tournament they have ever qualified for, but they've slumped back from then and are now ranked at a lowly 66th in the FIFA Rankings.
Having said that, they have achieved some encouraging results and have won an impressive five out of their last six games, with their only defeat coming against England.
However, closer inspection reveals two of those wins were against San Marino and Andorra and the other two were against Kosovo, Kazakhstan and Belarus, so there have been few notable scalps in there.
Manager Edoardo Reja has picked an experienced squad although curiously, he has named three keepers who don't have a single appearance between them.
How the bookies view it
Wales are a best-priced 4/6 with 888Sport which seems more than reasonable given their excellent home record. Albania are 9/2 with William Hill's and the draw is 27/10 with Tonybet.
Recent head to heads
The sides met three years ago when Albania beat the Welsh 1-0 in a friendly encounter in Elbasan. They also played during Euro 96 qualifiers when Wales won once and the other game was a draw.
Players to watch
Daniel James grabbed a late winner against the Czechs in Wales' last game in a crucial World Cup qualifier and the Manchester United star also netted against Finland. He's of interest at 9/4 with bet365.
Albania have a player at Barcelona – Rey Manaj. And while he may only be in their B squad, he still netted in their last game at San Marino and has six international goals to his name. He's 3/1 with bet365 to score anytime in Cardiff.
Anything else catch the eye?
While Albania have restored confidence with recent wins, they were against poor opposition, three of the five wins came at home and the two away victories were at Andorra and San Marino. Fortress Cardiff looks a different proposition.
It's surprising that Wales aren't more odds-on and if the 4/6 is too skinny for you, try Wales to win -1 on the handicap at 2/1 with BetVictor, which looks inviting.
Wales also look value for scoring two or more goals at 19/20 with 888Sport.
