I PICKED four out of four on the English Premier League card yesterday – but obviously didn't put them up as a fourfold.

Away wins for Aston Villa, Southampton and Arsenal and a draw at Norwich would have paid around 60-1 – and I'd have been ridiculed for suggesting it.

In fact the last nine Premier League tips I've included in my Daily Record column have come up but it's tough maintaining that record today.

I posted Milesey's thoughts on QPR v Wigan earlier. It's a comprehensive write-up and I agree with him that there should be calls with Wigan probably avoiding defeat.

So I won't go over old ground and instead start with Spurs v Everton (2.05pm). Spurs are never a punter's favourite without Gareth Bale and for me this looks a draw at 5-2 with Skybet.

As well as Bale, the North London outfit will be without Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe but that's countered by the fact Everton are without suspended pair Marouane Fellaini and Steven Pienaar.

BetVictor’s 13-2 for it to finish 1-1 is tempting while Betfred go 5-1 for both halves finishing all square. Under 2.5 goals pays 3-4 at Ladbrokes.

Liverpool are just 4-11 at bet365 to beat West Ham at Anfield (1.30pm) and although I hate backing them at such a short price I can't see them slipping up.

The top four looks beyond Liverpool but a run of four wins in five Premier League outings suggests they should beat a Hammers side who have lost six of their last seven on the road.

Crucially, they'll be without last weekend’s two-goal hero Andy Carroll who can't face the club he is on loan from.

In Carroll’s absence it might be worth looking at Paddy Power’s 7-5 for the Reds to win to nil.

Luis Suarez is experiencing a “drought” having not scored in two games – both away from home – but in front of The Kop the Uruguayan has been prolific with six of his team’s last seven in all competitions. Back him to net the opener at 3-1 with William Hill.

Sunderland have been in the headlines all week because of their choice of manager following the departure of Martin O’Neill and new boss Paulo di Canio makes a tough baptism at Chelsea (3pm).

His Sunderland side are 10-1 with William Hill and it's not one for me. Like Liverpool the Blues are short at 4-11 with Coral but it's difficult to see past them against a side who just can't score goals and are now without top scorer Steven Fletcher.

Chelsea look good at Coral (8-11) on the race to score two goals because surely Sunderland won't net a double.

It's possible that Chelsea will win to nil (11-10, Skybet) and I might even take a gamble on Fernando Torres to score first – if he starts – at 9-2 with Coral after his double against Rubin Kazan in midweek.

On paper the toughest game to call is Newcastle v Fulham (3pm). Alan Pardew's men are slipping back towards the drop zone having suffered back-to-back Premier League defeats and this is a must-win game.

Ladbrokes make them 11-10 to beat a Fulham side who always seem to be poor travellers but who have Dimitar Berbatov on form and he's capable of producing a moment of magic. Instead of predicting the outcome of the game I'm on the Bulgarian to score at 12-5 at Stan James and Skybet.

Recommendations

Spurs v Everton under 2.5 goals
(3-4, Ladbrokes)

Suarez to score first
(3-1, William Hill)

Chelsea race to 2 goals
(8-11, Coral)

Berbatov to score
(12-5, Skybet, Stan James)

I’ll probably skip the Newcastle Fulham game because I hate betting against us but after backing us against Wigan and Man City only to travel all the way there and watch us lose I’d rather just enjoy the game today back in St James’ after so long away. so I’ll just go with Chelsea -1 and Spurs double today

I’ve been building up a pot for a Sunday lump, I’m thinking of going for the following:-

Liverpool – West Ham – Liv to score 2+
Chelsea – Sunderland – Chelsea to score 2+
    QPR – Wigan – over 2.5

The stats say a resounding yes to all 3 but we all know how stats can work out….

I’m pretty confident but keep doubting myself when I go to press the button.

Anyone got any good reasons why they think this won’t happen? :D

Mr fixit, the chelsea bet your doing the race to 2 goals, Iv never seen this but is it you just need chelsea to score 2 goals before Sunderland, obviously if they only score 1 bets not up.

Is that right? 8/11 seems to be a very generous.

Mr T, yeah that’s right. It’s first team to score two goals. It was 8-11 yesterday but last time I looked was 4-6.
