Aston Villa vs Arsenal

, KO: 12:30 Feb 6, 2021, Villa Park
Arsenal

BOTH Aston Villa and Arsenal will be looking to bounce back from midweek defeats when the pair lock horns at Villa Park on Saturday lunchtime.

Dean Smith's side were brilliantly dismantled by high-flying West Ham on Wednesday, on a night where Jesse Lingard notched a double in a dream debut for David Moyes' men.

Indeed, Aston Villa's turnaround this season has been nothing short of remarkable, but it's now just two wins from their last eight matches in all competitions.

That means Villa have slid down the standings to occupy ninth place where they sit just one point above this weekend's visitors to Villa Park, Arsenal.

Last time out the Gunners self-destructed in spectacular fashion after two red cards saw them crash to a 2-1 defeat away at Wolves.

Prior to that setback Mikel Arteta's men were enjoying a mini-revival and the capital club will be desperate to get back on track when they come up against the Villans this weekend.

Outright Betting

Aston Villa have emerged victorious in each of the last two top-flight tussles between these two teams and home win here is trading at 17/10 with BoyleSports.

Arsenal have triumphed in three of their last four Premier League road trips and another away success on Saturday pays 8/5 with TonyBet, while the draw is best priced 13/5 with William Hill.

Betting Angles

This fixture has a rich history for delivering goals – the last 11 meetings have generated 38 strikes – and with that in mind, I'm going to head to Bet 365's Bet Builder market to construct a same game multiple.

If we combine over one match goal and each team to receive over zero cards we will be presented with a nice looking 5/6 (Bet 365) shot.

60% of Aston Villa's league games this season have featured three or more goals, whilst over 2.5 goals backers would have been rewarded in each of Arsenal's last three Premier League away games.

What's more, 11 of the last 14 fixtures between these two sides have produced three or more goals so I'm more than happy to add over one match strike to the aforementioned Bet Builder.

With a closely-fought and competitive contest anticipated I'll also back each team to receive over zero cards, something both sides have managed in 13 of Arsenal's last 15 Premier League matches.

What's more, both sides are avenging over 1.5 yellows per game this term, not to mention Aston Villa are the most-fouled team in the top-flight this season.

One player who could be worth considering for a card is Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin who is 9/2 with BetVictor to have his name taken at Villa Park.

The Spanish defender could be tasked with taming Villa talisman Jack Grealish – the most-fouled player in the league this season – and given that Bellerin has already been booked seven times this season the above-mentioned price looks a little too big to me.
