ANYONE who read my Daily Record column yesterda will know I'm backing Man United to beat Chelsea in the FA Cup today.

United are simply the best side in England at the moment while the Blues blow hot and cold. Alex Ferguson will still be furious at the way his side crashed out of the Champions League and an FA Cup and league double will be some consolation.

Ferguson's loss to Real Madrid was blamed on a red card to Nani but Chelsea had no excuses for a poor Europa League show in Bucharest.

So it's United, so strong at home, for me at 5-6 with Paddy Power and Coral and I'll be looking at Wayne Rooney to bounce back from his Euro misery by scoring. He is 11-8 at Skybet and Stan James.

Two meetings this season have produced 11 goals in 90 minutes so take a look at Man Utd to score 2+ at 4-6 with Skybet. Chelsea are 7-4.

I'm putting Man Utd on my treble and adding Hibs at home to Hearts for reasons stated elsewhere.

Complete the treble with Atletico Madrid at home to Real Sociedad as they try to maintain their incredible 100 per cent league record. It's now 13 games, for 34 and against six.

I liked the way Sociedad played against Betis last week in a 3-3 draw but if they defend the same way they'll be punished by the likes of Falcao. Atletico are 1-2 at William Hill with Falcao with the likes of William Hill, Ladbrokes and others to score first.

After my success with Ross County yesterday I'm trying a big Super Single with Bastia at 6-1 away to Bordeaux. Bastia have lost seven out of 14 on the road, drawing another five, but face a side with four successive league defeats behind them.

On cuurent form that 6-1 is too big with Bordeaux having won just four out of 13 home games and netted 11 in front of their homes fans – the joint lowest in the division.

It's still a tough ask for Bastia and for less of a risk you could back them +1 at 11-8 with TitanBet.

      FIRST GOALSCORER GAMBLE

Edinburgh derby between Hibernian and Hearts, which takes place on Sunday.

Hearts are struggling at the foot of the Scottish Premier League right now and have only won once on their travels this season.

Prolific striker Leigh Griffiths. On-loan from Wolves, the Scottish international has scored 19 league goals this season and is in a rich vein of form.

Griffiths was named as the SPL player of the month for February, as he scored in four successive league games. This form has continued into March, with Griffiths netting a hat-trick against Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup last week.

back Griffiths to score the first goal at odds of 4.6.

      Liverpool v Tottenham
Liverpool’s games are packed with action. Twelve of their last 13 matches would have won you money if you’d backed them for more than two and a half goals.

Leading the way for the Reds is Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan is in red-hot form, having netted 10 goals in his last 10 league appearances. But whether or not it’s Suarez who grabs the headlines, you can almost guarantee that Liverpool will get on the scoresheet. Only once in their last 15 matches have Brendan Rogers’ side failed to find the net.

To be fair to their opponents though, they’re not exactly slouches in front of goals either. Despite regular injuries to their first choice strikers, Tottenham have continued to create goals.

Their main way of achieving this has been by pushing Gareth Bale into more attacking situations, usually through the middle. As a result, the midfielder has netted seven times in just his last five outings. And with Jermaine Defoe back to replace the injured Adebayor, Spurs certainly look capable of finding the net at least once, something they’ve done in 13 of their last 15 games.

      Back Over 2.5 goals @ 1.72

      Newcastle v Stoke
There’s no doubt about it, Stoke are in a funk, having won just two of their last ten. They don’t need to push the panic button just yet, as they still hold a nine point advantage over the teams in the relegation zone. But manager Tony Pulis will nonetheless want to end this poor form right now.

So what do you do when you’re struggling? You concentrate on what made you good in the first place. And for Stoke that means keeping things tight, as shown by the fact that 10 of their 14 away fixtures so far have been low-scoring.

Actually, the signs are that Pulis has already begun this tightening-up process, with three 1-0 scorelines from their last four games suggesting the Potters are now making a scrap of things.

For Newcastle, this match will be a tough ask, coming so shortly after a European game in Russia, where they were under the pump for long periods. That fatigue won’t help their cause in unlocking a stubborn Stoke defence. Luckily for Newcastle though, they don’t have too much to fear from the Potters’ attack, which has netted just eight times in its 14 away games.

      Fenerbahce vs Bursaspor
      Sunday 17:00

There’s more Super League action this weekend as fourth placed Bursaspor cross the Marmara Sea to Istanbul to take on 3rd placed Fenerbahce.

After last week’s tipping success in the Istanbul derby we’ll have another look at Fenerbahce, this time back in front of their own fans at the Sukru Sarakoglu Stadium.

Last weekend was a painful one for Fenerbahce, not only did they suffer a heartbreaking last minute defeat to Besiktas, they also saw Galatasaray win and move seven points above them. It’s now imperative that they get all three points this Sunday as the gap may be up to ten with Gala playing at home on Friday night.

Fenerbahce did find some respite on Thursday night in the Europa League when they traveled to the Czech Republic and gained an impressive win over Victoria Plzen, no mean feat considering Plzen knocked out Napoli in the previous round. That result may have restored a bit of confidence and the front three of Kuyt, Sow and Webo are looking increasingly dangerous. Webo’s arrival from little neighbours Istanbul BB seems to have freed up space for Sow, they both have twelve goals to their name so far and should be the main threats again on Sunday.

Bursaspor finished fifth last year and are enjoying another decent season founded on a solid defence despite the arrival of Anton Ferdinand. Another Englishmen Scott Carson has been enjoying a good season in goal but their most entertaining players are found in midfield. The Argentinean duo of Pablo Batalla and Fernando Belluschi are ever present and their consistent impressive displays are keeping the ‘Green Crocodiles’ in the hunt for European places.

Fenerbache won with comfort when these two met in the cup in January and they should repeat the success on Sunday. It won’t be an open game and it may take the hosts some time to break down their opponent but expect Fener to have enough to stay in the race.

      Celta Vigo v Real Madrid
Sunday 18:00 (Live on Sky Sports 1)
      Celta 8.4 Real 1.46 draw 4.9

You’ll recall that Real Madrid were in midweek action. So there will be some bit-parters taking lead roles this weekend.

Even with the first team starting most games Real have won less than half of their Liga away games this season (W5-D2-L6). Among those five wins only two have come by more than the odd goal.

Celta tend to play a tight game at Balaidos – 9/12 have ended with Under 2.5 Goals – and Abel Resino is unlikely to go all-out against one of the Big Two.

The Sky Blues have not lost by more than a single goal in any of their 12 home games so far.

      Back Celta Vigo +1.0 & +1.5 @ 2.0

      ————————————————-
      San Lorenzo v Tigre – 20:00 sunday

Tigre keep surprising us and a good Libertadores win in midweek is a result which brings them great credit – even if they should be concentrating on the relegation table and staying in the top flight.

San Lorenzo are fighting for the same end, which makes this one a pretty fascinating battle – especially with both clubs dramatically improving over the last few months.

Juan Antonio Pizzi’s turnaround at San Lore has been supremely impressive, and they are now incredibly hard to beat. They have the tools to trouble any side going forward, and showed that in comfortably beating River Plate last week.

With Tigre tired from their continental travails, there’s more support for a home win here at 2.2, and the unders would be worth looking at – all four of SL’s games have gone under 2.5 goals – if the price wasn’t so short 1.55.

San Lorenzo to win @ 2.2

Roda JC have struggled this season after finishing mid-table last term. They are down in 16th place and are in danger of having to play in the dreaded relegation play-off. Their form isn’t actually that bad at the moment though and they would be much higher in the league if they didn’t draw so many games.

The wonderfully named Ruud Brood has seen his side avoid defeat in nine of their last 10 league matches, with the sole loss coming at Utrecht when they were reduced to 10 men after just 18 minutes. The Pride of the South have only lost two of their dozen home games this year and they are currently undefeated in five.

Feyenoord are up in third place, just three points off leaders PSV with a game in hand. Last season’s runners up have won four of their last five after only winning two of the five before that. They followed up a vital home victory over PSV with a comfortable 3-0 win at NEC last Sunday and they will be in the mood to make it nine points from a possible nine this morning.

I do have my concerns about Ronald Koeman’s side away from De Kuip though as The Club on the Meuse have won just six of 13 on the road this season – a win rate of under 50%. They’ve lost at Zwolle and been held by NAC Breda so I wouldn’t be concerned about the fact that Roda are near the foot of the table.

This looks like a tight fixture on paper and the draw must be a huge runner. It finished 0-0 last season and 3-0 to Roda the season before so with Feyenoord trading as low as 1.78 I have to make them my lay of the day.

      Burnley v Hull
      Monday 11th March
      19:45 GMT
      Live on Sky Sports 1

A rare televised Monday night game in the Championship sees promotion chasing Hull visiting Turf Moor, knowing that a victory will see them leap-frog Watford and Crystal Palace back into the second automatic promotion spot after those two clubs failed to win on Saturday.

      Burnley

The home side are one of the few sides in the Championship with nothing more than pride left to play for this season, safely clear of the relegation scrap but with the play-off spots now out of sight. They are heavily reliant on Charlie Austin, who has scored 23 times this season, for an attacking threat. Having only scored more than once in one of their last eight games, they hadn’t scored for 348 minutes until Austin grabbed a priceless winner at Charlton last Saturday before following up with another in the midweek draw at home to Barnsley.

      Hull

The Tigers have become a tricky side to read of late. Having been one of the division’s most solid and consistent outfits all season Steve Bruce’s charges have veered from the sublime to the awful over their last three games with a 5-2 home win over Birmingham sandwiched in between heavy defeats at Bolton and Crystal Palace. However, with Palace and Watford both failing to win at home on Saturday, they have a great opportunity to strike a blow in what now looks a three-way battle for automatic promotion alongside Cardiff. Egyptian striker Gedo has scored five goals in five games since arriving on loan from Al Alhy.

      Match Odds

Hull have actually won eight times away from home, only the top two Cardiff and Watford have better records on the road, and Burnley’s form at Turf Moor is nothing to shout about – seven wins, six draws and five defeats. At this stage of the season, when one team is desperate for the victory and their opponents have nothing to play for, you want to be backing the side who need the points, especially when over the course of the previous six months they have proved to be 17 points better. So Hull to win at 2.7 has to be our recommended bet.

      First Goalscorer

Gedo (Mohammed Nagy) has given Hull extra cutting edge in attack and is the most likely player to open the scoring for the visitors.

Best Bet: Back Hull to win at 2.7
Back Gedo to be first goalscorer at best available price

Sunday’s big FA Cup quarter-final clash has the potential to be a bad tempered, high scoring affair. Manchester United’s players will still be feeling aggrieved after their Champions League exit, and there is little love lost between these teams.

Chelsea have dominated the FA Cup in recent seasons, winning it four times in the last six seasons, and although United have lifted the trophy more often, their last meeting, in the 2007 final, ended in victory for the Blues.

Wayne Rooney is likely to return to the United line-up and will be itching to get involved after being left out against Real Madrid, but Chelsea will be strengthened by the return of Ashley Cole, Juan Mata and Demba Ba. The last six fixtures involving these teams have produced 30 goals, so there could be fireworks, but Chelsea are adept at knock-out football, and they can hold on for a replay.

The first of my 3 Danish tips for Sunday might be a bit on the low side re the odds but this is where value are to be found and where my money have been invested.

The home side Horsens have lost their last 6 games and are fighting relegation but I don’t like the way Jesper Christiansen have been doing in the last couple of games in the Odense goal. But Odense it is … but on handicap.

Odense couldn’t do it so I’m relying on FC Copenhagen to give me a win. They’ve won 7 in a row, are 10-1-0 at home having scored 31 and conceded just 6 in those 11 games. Silkeborg was beaten 5-0 in Copenhagen last time playing there and I’m on Cooenhagen to lead at half time.

FC Copenhagen – Silkeborg (4.00 UK)
      FC Copenhagen at half time
      Odds: 1,75

    Tigres are a massive 2.00 with Bet365.

Tigres are top of the league and San Luis are bottom.

Tigres have played 9, won 6 and drawn 3 – unbeaten. They have also won all 4 away games so far.

San luis have the worse home record having not won at home and have played 9 and lost 7.

Normally the odds would be around 1.40-1.60 for this kind of match up but at 2.00 this is a really good price.

Weordie, I’m a stoke fan and I wudnt worry about beating us we are a poor outfit at the moment there is a lot of unrest between fans and players over the managers style of play. If you get an early goal you will win comfortable because we only have plan (A) and no backup plus Robert Huth is banned for 3 games. Good luck but I only see one winner….Newcastle 2-0.

Valencia to kick off the day with a Win is 17/10. Seems good odds.

Won 3 of the last 4 aways games. Atletico Bilbao lost 3 of the last 4 home games. Valencia haven’t lost in 6 games overall.

The last time Valencia lost to Altetico Bilbao was January ’09. Since then Valencia have won 7 and drawn 1 against them.

17/10 seems a good price for them.

Gents, just because it’s Sunday, doesn’t mean we have to go cabbage crazy. Hibs haven’t lost to that maroon shower all season, but we just won’t go a whole season with the bragging rights intact. We were pitiful against St Johnstone at home only three weeks ago – true, that performance seems to have jolted a few passengers awake, and Griffiths is back on fire – but the jambos had no problem despatching St J at Tynecastle last week. I’m swerving the hibees as a bet, and I’m quite glad I can’t go. Griffiths anytime scorer is a decent bet, but it’ll come at 3-0 down.

I fancy a Man U/Liverpool double. Chelsea look tired of football and tired of Benitez, and Bucharest on Thursday was a fair old trip to go and lose ahead of another trip to Old Trafford today. Meanwhile, the Spurs/Bale bubble will burst at some point. Spurs put in a real shift on Thursday, and Liverpool look in-form and will be ready. Quite fancy 3-0 at Anfield. Then again, remember West Brom… But lightning won’t strike twice… That’s paying about 3.6.

Also going for Fenerbahce/Atletico double. Should pay around 2.7.

And sorry about the Dutch games on Friday, everybody. The stats don’t always get it right – especially when you post them – but they’ve worked a treat recently, and let’s see how they look at the end of the week. Not sure if there’s any games tomorrow night.

Good luck everybody – especially if you’re on Hibs. Fingers crossed.

that’s the understatement of the season. Griffiths scores a great free-kick off the underside off the bar and it’s not given, miles over the line. Look at my tips today and see how annoyed am I.

      Griffiths to score first

      And now again !!
