ARSENAL desperately need a win to kickstart their Premier League campaign and Mikel Arteta will come under serious scrutiny if his side fail to deliver it at home to Burnley.
The Gunners have gone four games without a win in the league since beating Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford and find themselves nearer the drop zone than the top four.
Last time out they crashed 2-0 to Spurs in the North London derby, drawing a third blank in four games to leave the fans far from happy.
Those supporters were expecting Arsenal to push on after an impressive end to last season that saw Arteta's men lift the FA Cup but instead they have been stuck in reverse.
The only positive has been a perfect Europa League campaign, with a midweek win over Dundalk making it six successive victories and bringing up two of my bets.
But that will quickly be forgotten if Arsenal can't find a way to defeat a Burnley side who headed into the weekend sitting in the drop zone.
It took Sean Dyche's men eight games to claim their first league win but they have taken four points from their last three matches and are showing signs of life again.
How the bookies view it
The bookies fancy Arsenal to end their horror run and the Gunners are a best 4/7 with SBK for a win. Burnley are as big as 6/1 with Unibet while the stalemate is 17/5 with SBK.
Recent head to head
Burnley have a horrendous record against Arsenal and haven't beaten them in the last 14 meetings. The Clarets have only claimed two draws in that dismal run but one of them did come when the sides faced off at Turf Moor last term.
That match ended 0-0 after the Gunners had come out 2-1 victors at the Emirates earlier in the season (below).
Players to watch
Arteta's fringe players have been scoring for fun in Europe while his big guns have been firing blanks in domestic battles. So he might be tempted to give the likes of Joe Willock and Eddie Nketiah the chance to see if they can end the Premier League goal drought.
Nketiah is 28/17 with SportNation for anytime scorer and that's worth a punt, even if he comes off the bench, while Willock is bigger at 7/2 with Paddy Power.
Chris Wood could get some joy against Arsenal's dodgy defence, especially in the air, and the Kiwi is 11/4 with 888Sport for a goal.
Anything else catch the eye?
Arsenal may be struggling for goals but they have scored two or more in their last eight home games against Burnley. Over 1.5 goals for Arteta's side pays 8/11 with SpreadEx.
William Hill are offering 4/5 on each team winning over one corner in the first half and that's worth a punt as the Clarets even managed to win four corners when skelped 5-0 at Manchester City.
I like the look of the 6/5 Betfred are paying on a header being scored by either side as set pieces could prove pivotal.
Paddy Power have an interesting bet that pays 17/10 on Arsenal winning either 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0. With Burnley drawing seven blanks already this term, that might be worth a bet.
