YOU could be forgiven for thinking that the jumps season has begun such is the amount of wind and rain that is about at the moment and that impression won't change when you see them plodding round at Haydock on Saturday.
It's sure to be a tough ask for the flat horses on soft ground at Haddock although things look a bit better in other parts of the country with Ascot and Stratford both likely to race on good ground.

2.50pm Haydock
The testing trip and soft ground should be no problem for BRANDON CASTLE who is in great form over hurdles at the moment. He has plenty of fat built into his handicap mark on the flat at the moment and he has the added assistance of the in-form Hollie Doyle. I can see him hunting round with his nice low weight and pouncing on tired horses in the straight.
3.25pm Haydock
In a top class race like this I'm looking for one that has a bit of potential for improvement. Most of them we know all about at this stage but GOLDEN HORDE is a three year old with some potential for further improvement. His win at Royal Ascot in the Commonwealth Cup was impressive and I don't think the soft ground will inconvenience him. I would have made him a good bit shorter than the current betting so he rates as a reasonable each way bet for me.
4.15pm Ascot
Regular readers will remember EJTILAAB from a few weeks ago when he bagged us a place at Ascot, just running out of puff in the last furlong. The drop to 7 furlongs should ideal for this really lightly raced 4 year old and I certainly wouldn't fancy laying him at odds of 25-1 as Paddy Power are currently doing.
