genericfootball

CAST your mind back to August and remember West Brom pumping Liverpool 3-0.

It was a great start for Steve Clarke and a dreadful one for Brendan Rodgers but the roles have been reversed in recent weeks with the Reds going well and the Baggies fading.

I can't see anything but a Liverpool win at Anfield tonight but they are no bigger than 2-5 with firm such as Ladbrokes and I've lost count of the number of times Liverpool have let me down when odds on.

So I'll take the Reds hopefully rather than faithfully and I'm boosted by the knowledge thay have won three in a row at home – without conceding – and are looking more solid as well as balanced with Daniel Sturridge an impressive addition to the ranks.

Liverpool have kept a clean sheet in all of those wins and are 13-10 at Paddy Power to manage to win to nil.

A 2-0 victory pays 7-1 at Betvictor but wouldn't Liverpool love to “level it on aggregate” with a 3-0 success at 10-1.

The first-scorer cash will probably be divided between Luis Suarez at 10-3 (William Hill) and Skybet’s 7-2 shot Daniel Sturridge.

I'm tempted by both to score at anytime and that pays a best £38.20 to a £10 stake at Stan James.

It seems I've written off West Brom but they're in relegation form with just eight points taken from 12 matches. Liverpool almost look banker material and I'd be surprised if they didn't win by at least one (21-20, Stan James).

There's one game in the SPL tonight and Hibs v St Johnstone is quite tough to call. Hibs have had the better of the meetings so far winning 2-0 at home and 1-0 away.

Those stats suggest a Hibs win to nil but I'm not convinced – although I wouldn't argue with anyone who thinking about under 2.5 goals at 4-6 with Skybet or even under 1.5 goals.

Look at Hibs' last four results – 1-0, 0-1, 0-0, 1-1, 0-0 and 1-0. No wonder Easter Road fans are rushing home on Saturday nights to catch the latest edition of Splash.

Stan James make Hibs 6-4 with William Hill clocking up Saints as underdogs at odds of 15-8 but I'm siding with the draw at 23-10 at Paddy Power while draw/draw HT/FT is 4-1 at BetVictor.

Hibs' on-loan frontman Leigh Griffiths is 4-1 at Ladbrokes and Skybet to net the opener but he's suffering a bit of a drought.

Four of Saints' last six have been under 2.5 as well so I'm thinking of doing a bet I don't like – no scorer. As it looks a game of few goals this has a chance but obviously the bet could go down in the first minute.

It's not a great punt to have if you're watching the match live but I'll be tuning in to Liverpool v West Brom. No scorer – and remember to take that instead of 0-0 in case of an OG – pays a best 9-1 at McBookie.com and BetVictor.

Under 1.5 goals is a possibility and that pays 85-40 at BetVictor.

I looked at Real Betis v Real Valldolid and Braga v Pacos Ferreira but don't strong opinions on either game. Betis haven't won in five so a home win looks too short while it's fourth v third in Portugal with Braga trying to put surprise guys Pacos in their place.

Again the odds on a Braga win look undervalue and after what happened yesterday with hot favourites Porto and Benfica both drawing it might be worth leaving alone.

Recommendations

Liverpool -1
(21-20, Stan James

Suarez, Sturridge both to score
(3-1, Stan James)

Under 1.5 goals at Hibs
(85-40, BetVictor)

Hibs v St Johnstone draw/draw
(4-1, BetVictor)

Not much doing today on the footy front but im going too go with

Manisaspor v Ankaragucu HOME WIN…..Manisaspor have home record which reads P10 W6 D3 L1 F14 A5 and come into this game in 3rd place in the table but 3points here today against bottom club Ankaragucu will lift them into joint 1st but 2nd on goal difference. They have won 3 out of the last 4 at home scoring 6 and conceding 3. Ankaragucu have an away frecord which reads P9 W1 D3 L6 F8 A16,they have won 1 in the last 5 on the road and i cant see them improving on that today against a strong team fighting for automatic promotion

Liverpool v West Brom HOME WIN….Liverpool after a shaky start too the season are now starting to put a bit of form together and have a couple of 2-2 draws at the Emirates and Etihad recently. They have won 4 of the last 5 at home scoring 14 times and conceding just 3. West Brom on the otherhand have started too fade badly recently after a superb start too the season which seen them occupy a top 6 spot for a long time. In the last 5 games on the road they have just 1 win and 4 losses,in these games they have managed to find the net 5 times and conceded 10. Sturridge has added another dimension too the Liverpool attack and removed some of the heavy burden from Suarez’s shoulders. I can see Liverpool winning by a couple here tonight and -1 goal on the handicap is a reachable target for a resurgent Liverpool

Hertha Berlin v Union Berlin OVER 2.5GLS…..Today we see a Berlin derby in the German 2nd division and i dont like tipping winners in derby matches so im going for the overs market in this one. The last 2 between these teams has seen over 2.5 been achieved and i see no reason why it shouldnt continue today. In the last 5 matches of both teams have seen goals with Unions games producing 22 goals and Herthas games producing 15 goals. Hertha have failed too score in only 1 match since the beginning of Augaust and Union have scored in all but 2 since the start of November.

Braga v Pacos Ferreria BTTS….a game in the Portuguese top flight between the teams occupying 3rd & 4th spot. 5 of the 6 between these 2 have seen both teams net with 23 goals in these games and i fancy a bit of the same today. Both teams have scored in Bragas last 5 matches and they have conceded 12 times in 9 home matches. Pacos have scored 13 goals in 9 matches on the road and i can see that continuing today against a frail Braga backline

I only know 1 person – my mate has just text me – staunch baggies fan and he got 16’s before the game then stuck another £10 on at 40’s just before half time!

He cashed out just before they bagged the second so only got £475 instead of £560 profit but he is the happiest I have EVER heard him. Unlike the rest of the countries gamblers tonight ……..

Glad I lost it on the horses instead of the scousers though.

Jack, it’s funny because I was aware of that stat about them not beating a side in the top half of the table. But on current form it seemed irrelevant with Liverpool on the up and WBA not winning since Boxing Day. I also wondered how the Steve Clarke effect would play out then thought he can’t do anything on the pitch. With hindsight I back West Brom.

Mr H, it just shows unpredicatable football is. That’s the beauty of it or the frustration of it. I see Braga were losing 3-0 at home to, admittedly to a decent Pacos team, but the WBA/Pacos double would have paid about 50-1. And 2-0 West Brom now.

      Patent

A Patent has 7 bets, but is made up of 3 selections. Your 3 selections make up 3 single bets, 3 double bets and 1 treble bet.

      Trixie

      Milesey 12 years ago

If you’ve made more than 2 selections, it’s possible to ‘perm’ them in a bet. This allows you to bet on all the doubles in 3 selections, all the trebles in 4 selections or all the 4-folds in 5 selections etc.

This is a convenient way to place a lot of multiple bets and can produce great winnings. For instance, if you place a perm bet of doubles from 4 selections you will receive some winnings if only 2 of your selections win.

To get the maximum winnings from this type of bet, all your selections have to win. When you place your bet, you’ll be shown a box which calculates your possible winnings* – please be aware that these are your maximum winnings and will only be achieved if all your selections win.

Milesey has summed it up perfectly what perms are Dave. The more selctions the greater need for some kinda perm is what I’d say..less selection more chance of it coming up…plus everyone needs a wee bitta luck. Imagine if you did a tenner treble on 3 teams to win each at 2/1…so ud get £10x3x3x3x3= £810 return for straight accumlator. if one wrong u get tiddly squat. If u used the same tenner and permed eg ud get 3 x £2.50 trebles and 1 x 2.50 accumulator equal £10 quid…if one was wrong ud get 1 treble up £2.50x3x3x3 = £67.50 return for ur initial tenner. If they all won ud get 3 trebles @ £67.50 based on them all bein at the price of 2/1 = £202.50 plus the £2,50 accum = £2.50x3x3x3x3 = £607.50 plus ur 3 trebles total of 202.50 ie return of £810 quid in total if they all won….perms are a safety net.

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 12 years ago

Guido, perms aren’t for everyone and they’re not for every bet. I like them when you’re still going to make a decent profit with one wrong and they’re good for things like draws and first scorers, outsiders etc.

    • Avatar of Guido
      Guido 12 years ago

Absolutely Paul…the odds kinda have to merit using it, perfect examples with draws etc. Widna be using it for a Milesey 1/14 shot Kabbass and a couple of Kabbass’s similarly priced equine stablemates on a Trixieat Southwell :-)

Andy, and it’s quite a big if. The best way to take Celtic to win if you think they will is simply back the home. How gutted would you be if they won 2-0 for example. And remember they were 2-0 ahead against Barcelona until conceding one in the last minute. However, I’m looking at the draw.

Paul Wanyama not scored in a few games but simply can’t ignore him at 25/1. As I’ve said already if he can score against Barcelona he can do the same against Juventus. Can’t see there being many goals in the game though. Would rather have him first and last at 25/1 than 13/2 anytime. He scored first goal against Barcelona and I think he will def be up for it. I think he will raise his game Paul.

  68. Avatar of Chris Guy

Andy you could do what Paul said. Back them to win by 1 goal @ 6/1 and cover it with a small Bet on Celtic to win 2-0 @ 28/1.

For anyone interested in Champions League Goalscorers this week.

    Anytime Scorers
    Lewandoski (Dortmund)
    Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
    Hopper (Celtic)
    Ibrahimovic (PSG)

£5 on them returns £200, more if you want to lump it on. Thought that was quite good considering how well all those 4 guys have been playing this season.

BIG JOCK, I wouldn’t advise anyone to do multiples if they can do singles. I put up both because I’m catering for a wide market, especially in the Record, and there are thousands of punters who like to throw a couple of quid at accers. But if I was doing it professionally or charging for tips it would be singles and doubles and maybe the odd treble on something like both teams to score.

noticed a few lads recentley saying there new at the old betting game this may seem like a pain in the a**e but ul be opening bettin accounts anyway

    1. Open an account with Betway and deposit £95.00.
Place your £95.00 on Middlesbrough at odds of 2.20 (6/5).
Betway will refund your first bet with them if if doesn’t win, up to £50.00.

    2. Open an account with Betfair and deposit £50.00.
Place your £50.00 on Leeds at 3.55.
If your first bet with Betfair does not win, they refund your stake up to £20.00.

    3. Open an account with Betdaq and deposit £53.00. You need to enter the promotional code ALLBDQ04 when prompted.
Place your £53.00 on the draw at 3.55.
If your first bet with Betdaq loses, they will refund your stake up to £30.00.

You have temporarily laid out a total of £198.00 on the Middlesbrough v Leeds match. I stress, temporarily… Now sit back, crack a beer open and enjoy the game.

    4. Here’s what happens at the end of the game.

If Middlesbrough win, you collect £259.00. That’s £209.00 from Betway plus £20.00 from Betfair plus £30.00 from Betdaq.

If Leeds win, you collect £257.50. That’s £177.50 from Betfair plus £50.00 from Betway plus £30.00 from Betdaq.

If it’s a draw, you collect £258.15. That’s £188.15 from Betdaq plus £20.00 from Betfair plus £50.00 from Betway.

    5. So the worst case scenario on the Middlesbrough v Leeds match is Leeds win and you make £59.50 profit. However, if Middlesbrough win you make £61.00 profit and if it’s a draw you make £60.15 profit.

That’s a minimum profit of over 30%, a much better rate of interest than you would get at any high street bank or building society

Paul not sure about Mulgrew he is 25/1 also but I can see him playing a more defensive role to be honest. Can’t see Mulgrew playing in midfield and don’t think he will be going forward that much as they will be keeping it tight at the back. Wanyama good for set pieces. 25/1 crazy price. I will be on him first and last.

    from OPTA

Celtic and Juventus have met four times in the past, each of their encounters ending in a home win, while no Italian club has won at Celtic Park in the Champions League (two defeats, two draws).

Juventus away record in the group stages was 1-1 (Chelsea) 1-1 (Norsjaelland) and a 1-0 win in Donetsk.

It look like a close call.

I’ve gone for a double chance £40 on Celtic or Draw, 1/1.

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 12 years ago

I dont care who wins the game a just hope its good enough to merit the 3.45am kick off time the opta facts have no bearing on tonights clash what happened 12 years ago means nothing williamhill rushed there facts as chelsea-Juventus was 2-2 ive always felt the big guns in the group stage do the business at home and and an away win to see them through so last 16 is a different story its 2 games were class comes out on top over luck….most of the time
