It's the calm before the storm on an unusually quiet Saturday on the football front.

The topsy-turvy fixture lists across Europe has left us with a near-empty card in the UK on a Saturday. The only competitive matches feature a series of play-offs in the National League.

If that's not your thing then you could look at some of the friendlies featuring Scottish teams who are warming up ahead of the season kick-off next week. Ross County, Livingston and Rangers are all in action.

Failing that you'll need to be creative by scouring Europe for some value. There's a trio of games in Serie A as well as matches in Portugal, Croatia, Turkey and Poland and a raft of games across Scandanavia.

Our team is already looking ahead to Sunday's Premier League finale in which there's still plenty at stake. We've got eight matches already previewed;

SPFL Countdown

The Scottish Premiership kicks-off next weekend so Kev Mac takes an early look at the title odds and the opening weekend's fixtures for Celtic and Rangers.

Speaking of Rangers, they host Coventry in a pre-season friendly at Ibrox. Steven Gerrard's side have looked impressive in pre-season and should run out winners against the League One winners. If you're looking for a betting angle then make sure you read SlipsTips match Rangers v Coventry City Match Preview.

Gambla Podcasts

Greg's already got the weekend off to a winning start for listeners of the Gambla Podcast and subscribers to his private Telegram Channel (go to gambla.co.uk for details) with Vitebsk winning and hitting the required number of corners.

There's plenty mroe tips to be found in from Greg and SlipsTips in this week's regular Podcast as well as great insight and predictions for this week's action in Norway which includes a top-of-the-table clash between Bodo/Glimt and Molde.

You can listen to both Podcasts here.

Thommo’s Tips

Thommo kept up his winning run of form with another winner on Friday. Bottom Bay, tipped at 6-1, won to add to his growing list of winners in July. Well done Alan!

He has another quarter of racing tips for Saturday's meetings at York and Ascot which are live on ITV. He's tipping Mark Johnson's Elarqam to repeat his Skybet York Stakes win of last year.

If anyone fancies goal in both halves market for Sundays 10 Premier League games, SkyBet’s “Special” is 100/1.

In contrast, William Hill’s current “normal” ACCA price (adding all 10 games yourself) is 174/1, which you can get boosted to 230/1.

If anyone else spots any nice prices, please feel free to share them too so we call all benefit 😉

    Wellington Phoenix v Adelaide (A-League)

Game 1 on Saturday sees the Phoenix meet the Reds, with the game being played in Sydney. Phoenix have looked strong since the season resumed, dominating Sydney for large parts of their first game (before capitulating late), and then bossing Glory and triumping over them in their second game. Even away from home, they’ve looked really strong in every game. They have a full squad still, except for suspended pair Payne & Sail.

Adelaide have a full squad, excepting Troisi, and in their only game since the season resumed, clawed out a 1-0 victory over the Roar. They’ve looked shaky all season, and I don’t fancy to get anything out of this one.

I’ve been on dodgy form the last few A-League games, but hoping to turn it around today.

    Tips:
Wellington Phoenix – draw no bet @ evens (NAP)
BB: Over 9 corners; over 0 cards each side @ evens

Melbourne Victory v Western United (A-League)

Game 2 on Saturday sees the Victory meet Western United, with the game being played in Sydney. Neither side has played a game since the season suspension, so it will be interesting to see how this derby match goes.

Victory’s coach has changed, with Brebner now stepping in. And both Poulsen and Toivonen are no longer with the side. Kruse is out injured.

United have lost Kone, and Hamill is still out injured, but otherwise have retained the majority of their side.

With key players and their coach leaving, this is going to be a tough match for Victory. United have been the better side of the two all season, and are still within touching distance of a finals spot. Goals would have been likely pre season suspension, and I think this game may still see them, with this game seeing a few flare ups too.

    Tips:
    Western United win @ 2.62
BB: Over 0gls for United; Over 0 cards each side; Over 8 corners @ 2.37

    Under 2.5 goals at 9/10*****
Today’s play off go straight to pens if the tie’s are still level after 90 mins.out of the last four games these two have met three have been draws and with the added importance of the game another stalemate here wouldn’t surprise. Also the last four meetings have seen under 2.5 goals and i certainly can’t see an open game.

Had 1 winner & 1 loser in Austria yesterday, nothing lost.

Today sees a number of important promotion playoffs for the lower leagues, one of which includes the mighty Alty.
Were knocked out last year in the Semis by Chorley on penalties, a game I was in attendance for, was gutted but hoping they can get a result today. York will be difficult though and are slight favourites. Expecting both play off games to be tight but all teams to find the net.

    Afternoon gents

🇧🇾Vitebsk delivered my 12th winning NAP from
13 in Belarus yesterday with 6+ corners at 11/10 (went off at 8/11 but shared with telegram
    Members on Wednesday at 11/10)

It’s been a fantastic week – appreciate the kind messages 👍🏼

    FYI

Rangers are playing Coventry later this afternoon, you were getting 10/11 for Rangers -1 ( that’s long gone now)

Rangers are miles ahead in terms of preparation and match fitness. It’s Coventrys first game since March whilst rangers have been back training for 3 weeks and are just back from from France where they played Nice and Lyon( won both 2-0) and they beat Motherwell 4-0 at Ibrox during the week

Coventry manger Mark Robins has admitted this game is too soon for his side but he couldn’t turn down the offer of playing at Ibrox.

Really think rangers can win this 3-0 or 4-0

@footiefan77 this isn’t a criticism mate but just going through yesterday’s thread and noticed your nap??

    NAP of the Day:

    Belarus Premier league

    Vitebsk v Slutsk at 6pm

Double chance Slutsk and Draw at Evens (Betfair)

Genuinely curious to understand what your logic and rational for Slutsk double chance was?

I’m not asking because both my Vitebsk bets won. Just thought it was a really surprise pick to back Slutsk?

  35. Avatar of Footiefan77
    Footiefan77 4 years ago

Greg I was following the odds for the Vitebsk v Slutsk game and earlier in the week it was 4/6 for Vitebsk but on the day of the game all bookies lengthened the odds to close to evens for Vitebsk which was a big shift so I couldn’t ignore that despite the form pointing to Vitebsk to win. Also Vitebsk reserves were lucky to come back from 3-0 down to draw the day before.

    Rangers v Coventry

As Greg has mentioned Rangers a good bit ahead in terms of pre season but in terms of quality Rangers are a good bit better than Coventry. Joe Aribo has shown up really well in pre season and scored against Motherwell on Wednesday. He’ll likely only play 45 minutes but I think there’s a good chance he’ll score.

    Aribo first goal 9/1
    Aribo anytime 14/5

    Bets for Sunday:

De Bruyne to assist a goal 3-4 (Will Hill). He’s 1 away to equal the all time assist record held by Henry.

34 + goals in all 10 matches in the Premiership at 9-4 (Will Hill and Sky Bet). This bet has landed in 3 out of the 4 last seasons. In fact 36 goals(Odds are 4-1) has landed in 2 out of the last 4 seasons.

Long shot: Goal in the first half of all 10 Prem games at 24-1 at Will Hill(acca boost). Only 14-1 at Skybet.

To be fair to Greg he’d have been on Rangers -1 if the price hadn’t gone.
He also said he expected them to win 3-0 or 4-0 so he was one goal out.
I don’t like betting on friendlies but if you see the lineups and know the fitness levels of the teams playing you can make money.
