THE penultimate Sunday of the Premier League season will see Spurs square off with Leicester at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Both sides still have plenty to play for with Tottenham still in contention for a Europa League berth while the Foxes are fiercely competing for Champions League qualification.
Jose Mourinho's men come into their final home fixture of the season off the back of a 3-1 success at St James's Park on Wednesday evening.
To date, the Mourinho era has been plagued with inconsistency, however, the self proclaimed “Special One” is very much targeting a strong end to the season.
Leicester, meanwhile, have seen their quest for Champions League qualification crumble following a damaging run of just two wins from seven since the resumption.
Having said that, Brendan Rodgers men boosted their chances of a top-four finish on Thursday evening when picking up a well-deserved 2-0 win over Sheffield United.
Outright Betting
Tottenham are targeting a fourth home Premier League win on the spin and that outcome is priced up at 5/4 with Bet 365.
Leicester claimed all three points in the reverse fixture and a repeat on Sunday pays 11/5 with Bet 365 while a share of the spoils at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is trading at 49/20 with UniBet
Betting Angles
I spoke about this fixture on this week's edition of the Gambla Betting Podcast with a view to backing two or more Leicester cards at 4/5 with Bet 365.
Indeed, the Foxes sit second-bottom of the fair play table, however, Brendan Rodgers will be without both Caglar Soyuncu (suspended) and Ricardo Pereira (injured) while Ben Chilwell and James Maddison are both injury doubts.
Consequently, the King Power club will again have to field a patched-up defence and I suspect that Tottenham could have the tools to trouble Rodgers makeshift rearguard.
What's more, referee Anthony Taylor is showing just over 4 cards per-game on average this season – all of which adds to the appeal of backing two or more Leicester cautions.
Given that both teams are pursuing European football next term and neither can afford a slip-up, I'm expecting an open and entertaining encounter in north London on Sunday afternoon.
Both teams have scored in 67% of Spurs' Premier League this season – the highest percentage in the division – and the Foxes have recorded just two clean sheets across their last 11 top-flight road trips.
Backing both teams to make the net bulge on Sunday looks slightly short at 3/4 with Bet 365 so I'm going to opt for an alternative angle by combining over one match goal alongside each team to collect at least one card – a combination that will nudge the price up to 5/6 (Bet 365).
For reasons already discussed I fancy a few cards and goals in this fixture and it's also worth noting that Spurs rank as the second-most ill-disciplined side in the Premier League.
Taking the above-mentioned betting angle would have banked profit in eight of the last 10 league games these two sides have contested collectively and I'm happy to side with a repeat on Sunday.
