EVERTON head for St Mary's confident of adding to home fans' misery after the unpopular decision to axe boss Nigel Adkins.

I don't like backing against sides with new managers but Southampton fans are up in arms, players aren't happy and it's not an ideal situation for Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine will have to hit the ground running if he has any chance of winning over the faithful and the squad Adkins built with many of the players accompanying him from League One to the Premier League.

Everton will feel the timing of the game is perfect and they'll be out to bag three points to stay in the hunt for a Champions League place.

They've lost only three times this season and once in nine games and crucially have netted in all but one of their away fixtures.

But Southampton were in good form under Adkins with his sacking seemingly nothing to do with results but personality. The Saints drew 2-2 at Southampton after beating Aston Villa so they're a decent side and the only questions is: How will they play for Pochetti.

The one bet I do fancy is both teams to score at 4-6 (various) while over 2.5 goals pays 4-5 at bet365.

Everton have scored in 11 of their last 12 league games and Southampton have been hot at home with the dangerous Rickie Lambert always likely to pitch in with a goal.

If Adkins was still in the dugout I'd be on draw at 13-5 with bet365 and BetVictor and possibly even Saints at 10-3 with Blue Square. But as he's not there I'm going to side with Everton at 21-20 with Ladbrokes, William Hill and Paddy Power.

Marouane Fellaini starred in Everton's 3-1 win against the Saints at Goodison and is 7-1 at BetVictor to bag the opener and 11-5 to net at anytime. Nikica Jelavic bagged a double in that match but has netted just six this season. He is 11-2 at BetVictor to break the deadlock and 13-8 to score again.

Lambert as always is Saints' biggest threat and turned the game his side's way when he came on against Chelsea and scored. Lambert is 8-1 at Paddy Power to bag the opener and 13-5 to score at anytime.

With Fellaini and Jelavic slightly off the boil maybe the guy to consider for first goal is Steven Pienaar who has given the African Nations Cup a bodyswerve. The South African is 12-1 at Ladbrokes and Paddy Power to score first and 5-1 with Coral at anytime.

Recommendations

Over 2.5 goals at Southampton
(4-5, bet365)

Pienaar to score
(5-1, Paddy Power)

Lambert to score
(13-5, Paddy Power)

Easy money to be made today I think I’m going for Everton who will be to much for southampton Everton have there strongest team out and the new manager at Southampton won’t have had time to do anything……..Real betis have been doing really well in the league beating Levante 2-0 and Zaragotha away from home funny enough them 2 teams beat athleticio bilboa in there last 2 league games and ruben Castro has banged 11 goals in ……. Nigeria are ranked 52 in the world Burkina Faso are like 92 and have a strong team out so I’m going to take a chance on them………Benfica are top of league and are a good side I can’t see them not winning …,,,,,football is a funny old game though so we will see what happens………..

    Everton 11/10
    Real betis 5/6
    Nigeria 8/11
    Benfica 1/4

    20 gets 166.25 back

I fancied benfica -1 in with it but bottled it its only a bit of Monday night intrest I’m not going to be greedy

Craig, you must have a decent chance. Just not sure how Everton will go and Nigeria should win but a lot of the openers have been draws. And Moses not starting by the by so maybe Emenike for first goal.

Haha you never know, think he might be playing left mid so if he plays well could happen, maybe get a gl or an assist and he’ll be a contender so worth a cheeky quid, obviously more confident wi pienaar and fellaini tho but baines is always there about. Adds to excitement watching the game live and wanting your players to do wel

Love listening to Gray Neville talk football.

But cannot see him giving his bro MOTM. If anything Phil would need to be even better than MOTM to get the award from him.

Is Gary def co-commentating tonight? Looks like he’s in the studio. Isn’t it the co-commentator that picks MOTM?

Liked reasoning, few beer down you why not! £6 only 30 ginges Paul LOL! Work 3 off 3. Not great with all betting tonight but going big on Celtic win tomorrow, and money on Sheffield utd too. Both singles! I an sure singles will do me well over the long run! All in all though still screaming #teamneville. He done me well when man utd played the rangers at ibrox, match day 6, utd had qualified! United were evens for win and lumped more than i should heve on iit and 90th minute Phillip of all people popped up to do it! Good times

Seamus, firstly Sheffield Utd game is already off and there might be others tomorrow. Plenty off in the Blue Square. Yeah, it was a bad night, too many draws and too many tight games. Emenike first goal saved the day for me and I had Benfica -1 and -2 so broke even with those.

  32. Avatar of Seamus

Good to know. Just looking for value at decent stake! Fancy celtic at best 1/3 with £600 sheet not great but profit easy in my eyes. However, Chelsea/rafa needs the win at Swansea at evens or better would make same money profit wise for third if the stake! What you think? View now is to look at evens with my usual weekly stake, but more profit! Any suggestions would be appreciated mr F

Seamus, I won’t be looking at Chelsea game until we get Tuesday out of the way. There will be Celtic tips up tomorrow and others when I get a better idea about postponements.
