IT'S been three weekends without top-class football and it doesn't get any easier.
This should have been FA Cup semi-final weekend and a key date in the Scottish calendar.
But instead we had virtually nothing to watch or bet on. After four winners from five tips on Belarus I was even missing my Minsk fix.
Got to say though I landed a nice winner on virtual football after taking up a £5 promo from McBookie – bet a fiver on any virtual sport and get your money back if you lose.
It's one of those offers you can't refuse and my fiver went on the next four matches all to go over 2.5 goals and they did to return £49.50. Not bad for two minutes research with all the goals stats on the site.
Sunday was spent in the garden and listening to some archive broadcasts from the BBC.
I started with Celtic beating Inter Milan to lift the European Cup – hadn't listened to it before – then took in the highlights of Man United's dramatic 1999 Champions League defeat of Bayern Munich.
Finally, I listened to the best bits of Liverpool's comeback from 3-0 down to beat Inter Milan in the Champions League Final in 2005. I thought skipperSteven Gerrard would have taken an early penalty in the shootout but seemingly he'd vowed not to take another after a miss against Spurs.
Monday's not much better than Sunday but there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
Several European countries have allowed players to return to training and even Italy reckon they'll be back and getting ready for action early next month.
In Denmark, a country that's been too hard hit, I had to laugh at Midtjylland who are planning to play behind closed doors but with a drive-in that will allow up to 10,000 fans to watch live on big screens.
I once drove my car trackside but that was to light up the pitch at Dumbarton's former Boghead ground in a game against Clydebank.
Boghead was a a bit of a dive with a poor surface, rickety terracing and old lights that didn't fair well on cold, wintry afternoons. But if you told me I could to a game there today I'd pay plenty to get in.
Well done to any winners on Sunday and good luck if you're having a bet on Monday with most of the attention likely to be on the PDC Home Tour as darts stars continued to fire arras from their houses.
