Chelsea v Man City, Sunday, 1.30pm, Villa Park, live on ITV1

IT should be a fairly relaxed affair at Villa Park as Man City and Chelsea fight it out for the Community Shield.

This will be nothing like the cut and thrust of the Premier League as two of England's giants fight out the traditional curtain-raiser.

Often nothing more than a friendly the fixture however has produced goals when top-six sides meet so consider both to score at 10-11, William Hill.

Champions City have been quiet in the transfer market much to the annoyance of boss Roberto Mancini while the Blues have brought in Eden Hazard and Oscar while losing talisman Didier Drogba.

It was a win apiece when they met in the Premier League last season so there is little between the sides.

However, Roberto di Matteo's men have been unconvincing in pre-season and it could take time for the new-look outfit to find their feet.

So I'm looking at City, a biggest 6-5 at Skybet to edge it, and who better to score first than Sergio Aguero, the man whose last-gasp goal won the title last season. The Argentine is 6-1 at Ladbrokes and unibet and 2-1 at unibet just to score.

Recommendations

Man City
(6-5, Skybet)

Aguero to score
(2-1, unibet)

Ladbrokes refunding first scorers up to £100 if Aguero scores first or last

Chris, it’s not a bad offer. I’m looking at Aguero but problem as usual with City is the wealth of talent they possess so goals can come from almost anywhere.

Chris, have put on Aguero to score first with Laddies as well as a single on Hearts. My treble for today is Blackpool v Morecambe (3pm), Ajax v AZ (3.30pm) and Gent v Leuven (5pm). Heading off to boys’ football so good luck to everyone who has a bet today.

Good luck to you too Paul. Hope your boys football goes good. Think Man City might come back in the second half cos Chelsea down to 10 men.

Paul well done with man city and btts. Keeping my eye on the rangers handicaps as I can see them thrashing east Stirling at the weekend especially at home where they will want to prove a point to their fans.

Chris, after the wake-up call at Peterhead I’d have to agree. I’d be surprised if they didn’t win by at least four.

    Paul would you risk £100 on -2, -3, -4, -5

Chris, this weekend I’ll be looking at the prices then decide. I think -2 must have a great chance and -3 must also be an option.

Paul a noticed earlier you said you fancy man u or city for the title i also think chelsea will be there or there abouts the sunday tv is boring so i was trolling about the the bookies out in oz and i noticed whoever makes the odds up has been smoking large amounts of crack 15/1 15/1 17/1 dont care how jetlagged i am i shall be composing a business plan for a certain member of my family in wich i borrow a rather large sum of budda for a year do you think anybody else could pose a threat to the main 3 in the title battle

Danny, it’s City, Utd, Chelsea for me top three. Arsenal have a little chance if the keep RVP but I wouldn’t consider Spurs or Liverpool at this stage.

if arsenal keep rvp and walcott and get defence sorted wouldnt rule them out, think cazorla cld make the difference this yr and cut the gap. prices cant be correct, surely no.

rangers are 16/1 to win so cant see handicaps being decent prices, spain are 1/12 are are only gettin 2/9 for -1 & 13/8 -3

Craig your spot on with arsenal think it will be wengers last season to produce a title a thought the prices seemed mad anall and when i look again the prices for winners are normal and underneath they have the mad prices for handicap winner for example man +3 points $15.00 chelsea +6points $17.00 and arsenal +12 $13.00

for anybody that is more clued up than me about betting terminolgy have a wee look see if i am misunderstanding it

Danny, don’t think you’ve misunderstood it as Arsenal plus 12 is about the average handicap for fourth favourites.

with the sort of stakes i am thinking about Paul dont think i can trust arsenal due to form against the big gunns even at plus 12 although the manchesters at $15.00 have me overwhelmed with the possibilty of major returns

Danny, it’s not one for me. I also worry about RVP. There’s going to be speculation about his future every day until the transfer window closes and it wouldn’t surprise me if he goes.
