IT'S been a week dominated by cup ties and on Thursday there's not much to bet on but three KO games in Spain.
Last night all three games went against the grain so be wary with Real Sociedad v Real Betis, Villarreal v Espanyol and Barcelona v Levante. All are finely balanced so it's about who wants it more and who fields a strong side.
Could be three home wins with the first two games level while I'm backing Barcelona to overturn a 2-1 deficit and squeeze through at home to Levante.
Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez were rested for the first leg and it took a late goal by Philippe Coutinho to give Barca hope.
If they start with their superstar striking duo who shared the three goals against Eibar at the weekend then Barca should win so it's another win to think about leaving alone until team news is confirmed.
Barca are just 1-8 at McBookie to win in 90 minutes and 1-5 at Betfred to qualify so there's no value there. In five matches at the Nou Camp Barca have netted 24 times against Levante so Barca -2 at just under evens with sportingbet (7-9) must have a chance if Messi and Suarez start.
My disappointing January continued with both bets being beaten by one goal. The Super Single double was up until a late equaliser by Girona at Atletico Madrid – and once again I hope anyone on cashed out.
I thought I'd picked out a nice French +1 treble but it was let down by Rennes surprisingly losing at Guingamp. Ironically I was close to doing a btts treble on the games and that would have been a nice winner.
Well done to all the winners including HullShaker and Scott with two from three on his Southampton v Derby preview.
Desperate stats call for desperate measure and influenced by Greg's Scottish Cup tips on the big favourites I'm putting up two bets that will vastly reduce my deficits but damage them in a way Andy Murray did when he played a blinder against Roberto Batistuta Agut in the Australian Open.
As Greg says everyone play their strongest team or close to it in this weekend's Scottish Cup ties. Celtic (v Airdrie), Aberdeen (v Stenny), Hibs (v Elgin), Killie (v Forfar) and Inverness (v East Kilbride) pays evens at bet365. Although if you fancy a sizeable punt do it with a bookie that offers moneyback on fivefolds with no odds restriction such as McBookie.
All those sides should win with plenty to spare and you could take more risk by backing them on the -1 handicap at 5-1 with bet365.
I'm using points from today and tomorrow to put up two accas that hopefully put me back on track. Remember the Super Single tag is just another name for best bet and it's under evens.
These bets are inspired by Greg although I've left out Rangers at Cowdenbeath on Friday night. They should win by at least two but I don't want the bet being threatened before Saturday and I'm sticking to home teams.
As I expected the selections have sparked some debate and I get what everyone is saying. These are my bets and my stats and I can't imagine anyone follows all my tips religiously whether they're winning or losing.
I don't see it as chasing losses because I'm use two days' points – over a week I can risk up to 70 points and it's nowwhere near that even with these 18.

Firstly, posting a 5 team or 6 team evens bet isn’t something that happens very often and its not a case of chasing, its an opportunity this has presented itself due to the bookies pricing of the matches and Mr F is betting with what he can afford to bet with
Both Mr F and I are close to Scottish football and we know the difference in quality between teams in the SPFL and the part times teams in the lower divisions
The 5 teams in the super single are all at home, not only are they playing sides from 2 and 3 divisions below, they are playing sides who are really struggling.
The only surprise is Paul is only putting 15 points on it :) – I’ll be backing it heavily and will also be backing heavily the other bets I’ve suggested
Clubs take the Scottish cup seriously, we have some of the countries best sides playing against some of the countries weakest, not to mention the difference in professionalism, fitness etc.
If the English clubs fielded their best sides in the FA cup and you were getting even money on Man u / City/ Liverpool/ Chelsea / Arsenal all at home against struggling League One and Two sides you would be all over it.
The gulf in quality between Aberdeen and Stenhousemuir and Hibs and Elgin as an example is huge. Both sides will win well and if you are doing handicap bets, these are the two games to get on

Re: the above debate it’s not really chasing losses if your continuing to use similar stakes is it? It’s still only 2 days stakes and mr fixit always says he doesn’t do much on Friday, so using Friday and Saturdays stakes to try get a deficit reduced isn’t really chasing imo. Different if he was using a months stakes but that’s only my opinion. As for the actual bet itself, it’s much better to back a 5 selection 9/10 winner than a 10/1, 5 team loser is it not? As someone who often picks trebles or 4folds about the evens mark let me say I’ve had far more winners doing that than chasing bigger odds.

I watched that Celtic game on telly and remember Celtic never getting out of first gear.
True I’m maybe being a tad sentimental also and maybe playing it safe by leaving them out. That tie I recall was also played at Hamilton on plastic pitch and was the first after a winter break so perhaps along Celtic’s approach that day had an affect.

Mrfixit obviously has a big following and there is obviously a clear message not to chase losses. And one thing that always happens when people chase losses is their stakes get bigger. The only time I see Mrfixit put up these huge stake bets are when the figures aren’t too good and so obviously there is a change in mentality. I’d say this is chasing losses. Mrfixits reply is that he is within his parameter of not risking more than 10 points in a day, but the only time he regularly goes to these limits is when things aren’t going well

on paper it was a good bet, all things considered. he was 2 sets to nil down. no one forecast a monumental comeback from an injured Murray at that stage.

Hi Mr F, quick question regarding the 15 point ACCA. Not really interested in what’s right or wrong – we all know the score – more about the practicalities of getting bet on. I follow the tips closely and by and large i stick to 1 point = a fiver. 15 points would be 75 quid but McBookie has a twenty five quid limit on the money back guarantee? (As far as I know feel free to correct me there). I know a couple of bookies do similar offers but I’m guessing they’ll have their own limits. How would I get a fifteen pointer on at one bookies is the question? Am I able to put the same bet on at one bookie over a 2 or 3 day period and still keep the stake back guarantee on each individual bet? Hope that makes sense-cheers in advance.

You’ve said that a point is £10 for you before so if the offer is limited to £25 it’s not really money back. And if there are ways around it but you can’t say then I don’t think you can state money back as free bet for everyone. Also money back as a free bet shouldn’t count to the total because free bets are invisible unless you use them on a winning bet.
That’s correct but I’m not advising points value for anyone so the stats are what they are – in reality the points totals give a nod to form.
I don’t count losing moneyback bets in the same way I don’t count it as a winner if the free bet lands. I think that’s fair.
I’d spread your bet across different bookmakers that do the offer if you want to put more than £25 echo. Be aware some bookies are less than the £25, I use ladbrokes for wdw Accers and they are now £10

I was looking into Barca team news and seen the story that Barca may been kicked out of the cup for playing a banned player in the previous game. Apparently this happened to real a few years back. Question for Kelly – At the beginning of each month you publish stats for yourself and the principal contributors to the site. As a rule i believe you base your stats on £10 per point – that being the case, Mr F’ will have deemed to have staked £150 on the super single.
If and I hope that it does win, you will calculate the winnings based on the £150 stake – If however it loses, Mr F will deem that his stake has been returned as its a nominal 15 pt stake. Mcbookie only return the stake however up to £25 and therefore a £150 stake would be lost.

If there is to be a shock in the Scottish cup on Saturday, it could be auchinleck Talbot to beat Ayr united. Ayr are on a 5 game winless run despite having a great league season. They are missing 3 or 4 key players . leading scorer Lawrence shankland is a doubt again. Auchinleck are the top junior team in Scotland and have developed a winning mentality over the years. They have players who have played at the top level and the atmosphere in auchinleck will be buzzing. Could be a tricky test for Ayr united. Small ground, bumpy pitch and full house . auchinleck are a tempting 14/1 to cause a shock. I am an Ayrshire lad and really looking forward to watching this on the telly.
Being a Clydebank fan I’m familiar with Auchinleck – they are streetwise and tough to beat but it’s a big step up to Ayr.
Shankland’s fitness could be the key but Ayr could be too strong and remember they beat the West champions Beith 4-0 away in the last round.

I stand corrected, folks. I read it as “money back for 1 wrong”. That would of course be a very short price (many bookies offer this Acca Edge type bet). Now I see its actually “a free bet for 1 wrong” which explains the apparent good price. Free bets are not equivalent to stakes refunded. Not even close.
That said, it looks a winner to me and I’d be shocked if any of those 5 let the acca down.
I don’t mind free bets because I’m going to use them.

Have to be honest, I got side tracked last night, so ended up missing the first 85 mins of the Southampton/Derby match, but I did have a little bit of fun on the lead up. Did my usual bank-build grind and even though I missed all the action, the goals, I did opt for over 1.5 in that game. Then I had a little fun in the penalty’s. Missed dropping my increasing pot on Derby’s final penalty by maybe 2 seconds. It spat it out having locked out betting. It cost me a loss of £50 ( not really a loss, but a £50 boost ), but I walked away on the night up to £129.
I then dropped onto a cheeky double in costa rica for an over 1.5 and I woke up to £171 in my bank.
Today was really slim pickings and I took an in-play Barcelona to qualify @ 2/9 and overs 1.5 in the Brazilian Ava game @ 1/4. It took an age for the bookies to settle the Barcelona component and now I shall sit back and hope it rains in some goals in Brazil. If the goals do come, I could be up just over £100 on the night if it lands. This is usually about the time that I start to dial it down a notch and be more cautious. I’ll keep you guys posted.
