THE weather could play havoc today so staying clear of the lower leagues in Scotland and heading to Glasgow west end where I'm taking Partick Thistle to make it back-to-back wins.
Partick Thistle v Alloa (3pm)
After relegation from the top flight last season, many would have fancied Thistle to be up towards the top end of the Championship, however, it's not panned out that way as they have been a shambles.
They find themselves one point off the bottom which is embarrassing considering they have retained a good number of last year’s squad.
In October out went Alan Archibald and in came Gary Caldwell but that change did nothing to improve matters on the field and if anything things have got worse under their new boss.
Caldwell finally registered his first win as boss last weekend at home to Dunfermline, prior to that the club claimed a solitary point from the last 27 available.
That win was desperately needed and it’s another home game today against fellow strugglers Alloa, but to be fair to Alloa, they are competing well in this league given they are part time and have the smallest budget.
All 4 of Thistle's wins have come at home and I'm taking them to kickstart their season and finally put a run of results together.
They won't have a better opportunity today against a side who will likely be back down in League 1 next season.
Recommended Bet
- Partick Thistle to win
- 5/6 (Boylesports) (NAP)
Got to admit I can’t bring myself to back a Gary Caldwell side after what happened at Chesterfield with him, like thistle we were in a relegation battle and were in the relegation zone on goal difference when he came in and ended up ten points adrift at the bottom, we are still paying the price now.
Hope your tip wins though Greg, but, im not a Caldwell fan!
