Top Football Tips

WEDNESDAY'S Champions League card proved to be a tough one – for winners and for value.

My Top Treble was a poor effort and I'd have stayed clear of Man United not to lose if I'd known Jose Mourinho would make so changes. He now risks a tougher last-16 draw.

There were surprise defeats for the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus but both were already through while Bayern fought out a 3-3 thriller at Young Boys.

Man City got there in the end but were made to fight all the way by Hoffenheim at the Etihad.

Well done to any winner last night – kyle b looked the standout with 13-2 and 25-1 successes on card betting. Sorry for not mentioning anyone else but I was busy most of the day then in the office at night.

Thursday's focus is on the final Europa League group games and I'll post tips in the morning – as well as a Saturday Super Single shortlist for members only.

There are plenty of previews up already and including my detailed thoughts on Rapid Vienna v Rangers to Celtic v Red Bull Salzburg. Chelsea and Arsenal are also in action.

The matches involving the Scottish teams are tough to call but I'm taking both to score in both and adding the match between Copenhagen and Bordeaux with both sides in with a chance of qualifying depending on how Slavia Prague fare at home to Zenit.

For the Top Treble I'm starting with Sevilla who need to match Standard Liege's result to qualify from Group J alongside Krasnodar. Europa League kings Sevilla lost 2-1 in Russia but should gain revenge and guarantee a last-16 slot.

Add Real Betis at pointless Dudelange as they try to clinch top spot in Group F and complete the treble with Copenhagen not to lose at home to Bordeaux.

Check out my new mad mental goals post and remember to look at welovebetting for their tips and video chat.

3pts Top Treble

  • Sevilla (5.55pm)
  • Real Betis (8pm)

2pts Both to Score Treble

Well, my brief foray into the world of ‘unders’ betting went down like a rusy scalpel at a Bar Mitzvah and although the reasoning seemed sound, it turned out an absolute honker.

Well done to any winners last night and Kyle B take a bow on the bookings – magic stuff.

Not usually a massive fan of the Europa League but one game stands out on the betting front…

OLYMPIAKOS VS. AC MILAN (2000 KO):

This one is priced up fairly evenly for the winner and I can see why as there is an argument for both sides; the Greek side are no mugs and will have a hell of a crowd behind them whilst the Italians could dictate the game with a traditional defensive blockout and Higuain and co up top to counter.

Progression-wise, Milan will go through with just a draw or even a narrow defeat with the hosts also still able to make it out alive but needing to win by 2 or more – so, it’s all to play for and I just cannot see Olympiakos rolling over in front of a home crowd in what could well be a tasty encounter:

It’s difficult to not picture both sides on the scoresheet; Olympiakos have hit the net in 90% of their last 10 matches whilst Milan have scored in their last 5 European games and kept just one clean sheet – both sides scoring is priced around 3/5 but is available at a better looking 4/5 with Coral and Ladbrokes and that’s the main bet for me.

    Two selections to consider;

    BTTS…4/5
    (CORAL)
    🌟🌟🌟🌟

BTTS + BOTH TEAMS OVER 3.5 CORNERS + BOTH TEAMS OVER 1.5 CARDS…6/1
    (BetVictor)
    🌟

    Best of luck 👍

D-Day in the Europa League for Celtic and its a tough one for us against a side with more victories in the Europa League than anyone else since its inception in 2009. Its a match that Celtic only need a draw too progress if as expected Leipzig get the job done against Rosenborg, with Boyata missing from the back line Salzburg will fancy their chances of scoring a couple here and I fancy Celtic to score 2+ in an open game of attacking football. I see Macca has tipped up the Salzburg win as his NAP and its a risky selection with them already topped the group but I don’t see them playing any other way but too win which in turn should lead too goals

    BTTS and o2.5gls – 21/20
    O3.5mgls – 85/40

Cupla quid on BTTS both halves 12/1

    Bet builder

    Celtic to score 2+
    Salzburg to score 2+

    15/4

    Bet builder 2

    Odsonne Edouard to score
    Manus Dabbar to score

    9/2

The referee is Ruddy Buquet from France and looking at his record this season he likes a card or 4. He’s handled 4 European matches this season and dished out 25 yellows with the card count at 6,6,6 & 7. One of those 6 card games was on the other side of the city and also included Austrian visitors as Rangers entertained Rapid Vienna.

Over 4 cards in the match 6/5

    Having a wee afternoon treble 🇮🇹, 🇮🇳 & 🇦🇪

Italian game is Lucchese v Pro Vercelli BTTS, home side have netted in 11/14 & the away side have netted in 11/13.

Indian game is league leaders Bengaluru v midtable ATK. Home side are unbeaten with 7 wins and 3 draws in 10 & have won previous 3 H2H

UAE game sees table toppers Sharjah welcome 2nd bottom Emirates. Should be comfortable home win here but Sharjah have just 2 clean sheets in 12 and Emirates have scored in 9/12 so chances of BTTS

Bengaluru FC @ 4/6 (IND Super League, Match Betting)

Al Sharjah @ 7/5 (UAE United Arab Emirates League, Match Result and Both Teams to Score)

Yes @ 31/40 (ITA Serie C, Both Teams to Score)

Absolute tatters yesterday. Onwards today going for a 4fold.
    Genk-Sarpsborg (btts)
    Besiktas-Malmo (btts)
    Rapid-Rangers (btts)
    Celtic-Salzburg ( Celtic DC)
    Pays 6.83/1 bet365 half stake

With Group I being competitive and seen both teams getting on the scoresheet on almost each match day fancy it to be the case again today with all 4 teams still in with a chance of progressing. Rangers not fairing convincingly well away from Ibrox should score though but fancy rapid to get their share of the goals, should be cracking like the reverse fixture and finally fully except the Hoops to get atleast the point they need to progress.

Kiev already Through and Jablonec rock bottom on two points and conceding goals. 8 in 5 group games alone not including domestic fixtures.

Kiev are at home and that’s a hard place for any team to come to and their record alone speaks for that with a total of 4 wins in a row with over 1.5 team goals scored and 12 goals in 4 and only 1 conceded. They are a formidable side and again not concerned tonight if they concede as that helps me

The first half goal line has been achieved in 13/16 games with 3 also seen 1.5 at half time. Hoping for goals and Kiev to open up considering they are top and will give a run out to a few lower players. Astana can get top of group but goal difference is 4 for Kiev and 2 for them and be hard to win without them conceding also. I’ll take the risk on both netting here and the value is in 2.5 at evens and let’s hope Europa league is kind to us.

    📍Nap – over 2.5 goals at d Kiev v Jablonec 1/1 365

    GOODLUCK all

FINAL round of fixtures tonight in what is a incredibly difficult card to suss out due to lots of teams having nothing to play for. I’m focusing on a match that does matter as Rangers make the trip to Austria needing to win

    Rapid Vienna v Rangers (KO 5.55pm) – Group G

If you said to Rangers fans in July they would be one match away from qualifying for the knockout stages of the Europa league they would have bitten your hand off and that’s exactly the position they are in.

On the whole, Steven Gerrard’s side have performed really well in Europe and it should be an extremely competitive match especially as Rapid are also right in the mix to qualify.

One thing that has come to light though especially domestically for Rangers is their discipline problem, far too many red cards and needless bookings haven’t helped aid their cause

Before I touch on Rangers, its worth highlighting Rapid Vienna’s matches certainly haven’t been shy of a booking. Looking back over their Europa league games they have received 26 booking in just 9 games, 3 booking per game.

Those games yielded a total of 53 bookings (almost 6 cards per match) which is an extremely high card count in just 9 matches. Rapid had 3 or more bookings in 7 of those games and given the magnitude of this game I don’t see there being any love lost between these two tonight

There has been 5 sending’s off in Rangers last 5 matches (4 of those were for Rangers) and questions need to be asked about the temperament of this Rangers side. They are playing side who certainly don’t hold back and this sets us up nicely for a fiercely competitive match. Lets hope Rangers continue to lose the head tonight

    Recommended Bet

    •Over 4.5 Cards
    •5/6 (Bet365 NAP)
    •First Card before 28 minutes
    •5/6 (Bet365)

Good luck with your bets tonight – I’m down in Portsmouth for my works Christmas night out so will try and have an early look to tomorrow night on a clear head

Hi Greg, I was looking up exact same statistics last night as I was thinking of Rangers cards but I think the value might actually be on the home team cards – over 20 points for Austria Vienna currently evens with Paddypower. I’m going to leave it until inplay and if no booking after 30 minutes see what prices are on offer. Good luck mate and good luck all with your bets tonight 👍

    Early post for the weekend…

It all looks great on the surface at Gigg with The Shakers playing some of our best football in years but off the pitch it’s a completely different matter.

We’ve been battling financial ruin for 3 decades now since we went into liquidisation in the early 90’s and have limped from one narrow escape to the next – outgoing owner Stewart Day may have one successful promotion campaign (and one relegation) on his epitath but there are unseen parts to the story about the way the finances have been run under his tenure that leave a bitter taste in the mouth.

The drop from League One hit us hard and as ever, it’s the club 2 or 3 years down the line that takes the biggest hit – new owner Steve Dale has a minor miracle on his hands to turn the ship around and as anyone who has worked in business knows, you sometimes have to offload your biggest assets in times of financial hardship so watch this space…as I’m sure our best players are.

So, we find ourselves in a strange juxtaposition at the moment; playing in the form of our lives but with a financial noose around our necks that may well tighten come the New Year – will it affect us in the short term? Who knows but it’s certainly worth being aware of factors off the pitch rather than just looking at results and form.

    OLDHAM VS. BURY:

Sorry, bit of a preamble but well worth seeing the wider context – onto the game itself!

The obvious thoughts looking from the outside would be goals and probably an emphatic Bury win but having lived through 40 odd years worth of Lancashire derbies, I’ve seen far too many end with a scoreline that reflects the back to back terraced housing that surrounds most NW grounds; dull and mundane.

However, 3 things do look brighter for us:

1.We have current form on our side and statistically are one of the best offensive sides in the division.
    2. I posted earlier in the week that Oldham’s away form is arguably better away from Boundary Park than it is at home.
    3. We have held the hoodoo over the hosts in recent years on their patch with 1 loss, 2 draws and 3 wins during a 7 year spell.

As ever, it’s always going to be worth waiting until closer to kick off as final line-ups are decided and worth also remembering that we look a slightly inflated price as result of factors off the field.

As it stands though, I can’t see us losing this one although there is always the chance of a dull draw – DNB Bury is a good enough price to get stuck into early doors and I also can’t ignore our former Bray and Galway midfielder O’ Shea who has hit 6 since October and is absolutely on fire.

    Two selections to consider:

    BURY DNB…4/6
    (Bet365)
    🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

    JAY O’ SHEA ATGS…15/4
    (Bet365)
    🌟

Not around until late tomorrow so put thoughts together for tomorrow’s card – two games that look A-OK and I’m pretty sweet on both…

I was initially drawn to the Welsh Premier card by Elvis Parsley’s mob hosting The New Saints but after a good look I’m giving it a wide berth – what did catch my eye however, was this one…

    CARDIFF MU VS. LLANELLI TOWN
    (1930 KO):

Cardiff Met may not be in their best form but they are a decent side and the artificial home turf can certainly make a difference as seen in their 4-1 mullering of TNS back in late September and some big wins late last campaign against the likes of Bala, Barry and Newtown.

What attracts me even more though, is their opponents own form and their away form in particular; Llanelli’s last 8 league matches have seen them concede 1-7-6-5-1-3-3-3 goals – it’s a damning picture and one that’s sure to see them back down in the Welsh feeder leagues come next season.

Cardiff Met ran out 0-2 winners back in October and my moneys on them going at least one better tomorrow evening:

    Two selections to consider:

    CARDIFF MET OVER 2.5 TGS…5/4
    (Bet365)
    🌟🌟🌟🌟

    CARDIFF MET OVER 3.5 TGS…10/3
    (Bet365)
    🌟

    *****************************

With the Christmas ‘break’ rudely interrupting South America’s footballing schedule for a couple of weeks (keep an eye out for the Youth comp mind!) – all eyes will be on the blessed New Zealand Youth games – it’s still THE best league I have ever followed for goals but alas the value that once was is now diminished!

That said, there’s still a good bit to go at if you spot it early enough…

HAWKE’S BAY UNITED U20 VS. EASTERN SUBURBS U20 (2300 KO):

No extensive write-up here but a quick run-down on the 25 most recent match goal stats for each side offers an insight into why I love this obscure league so much:

    Hawke’s Bay:
    5-2-10-6-3-1-4-3-6-3-8-3-3-6-5-6-4-1-5-6-2-8-7-9-5-6

    Eastern Subs:
    9-4-7-6-0-2-5-5-6-5-1-3-1-6-6-4-4-1-1-5-2-6-1-7-5-3

    Recent H2Hs:
    6-5 match goals (6-0, 1-4)

Not too shabby and although I don’t like to ever sound too optimistic – I love the look of Bet365’s offering and would have put a 4.5 goal line around 1.750-1.800:

    OVER 4 GOALS…EVENS
    (Bet365 – Betbuilder Tab)
    🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

    Best of luck 👍

    Eredivisie – Friday

Willem II v ADO Den Haag

Interesting game on Friday night in the Eredivisie. I think it will be an open game which should see goals.
Willem II haven’t played a lot of teams of bottom half teams at home and ADO didn’t play a lot of them away, but in the games against bottom half opposition there were goals. I also found some other good bets when you look at the stats. ADO rank 1st on the list of cards received, Willem II is 3rd. Willem II got most cards in home games in the league, ADO got the most in away games. Due to the open game we could also see corners. ADO have the most corners in the league behind the big 3 and AZ. Willem II got 48 corners against in their 7 home games.

    Over 2.5 goals @ 1.75
Over 4.5 team corners for ADO Den Haag @ 1.95
    Over 3.5 cards @ 2.04

    Eredivisie – Sunday

    Feyenoord v Fortuna Sittard

Feyenoord get a lot of corners at home against bottom half opposition. 10 v Excelsior, 14 v NAC, 7 v Zwolle, 12 v Groningen and 13 v VVV.

    Feyenoord over 7.5 corners @ 1.91

Over 4 Asian cards Villarreal match. 1.825. WON
Over 4.5 cards rangers match. 1.75. WON
50 or more booking points (over 4.5) AC Milan match. Evens. WON.

Also a bit of a punt on dudelange +1.5 Asian handicap against betis. Both have nothing to play for. Dudelange are out and betis are through. Dudelange are not that bad and hoping betis rest players and also dudelange are at home so should put on a good match for the fans. Dudelange +1.5 Asian handicap 2.02. if they win, draw or lose by 1 goal it’s a winning bet. WON.

That’s a full house! Thank you Europa League!

After all them games this season v Rosenberg, it’s they who send Celtic through.
Well done Rosenberg, showed good professionalism when a lot of teams wouldnt have bothered trying.
That’s the 1st goal Leipzig have conceded at home in 5 or 6 games.

The site could be much more commercial than it is and we could charge for every tip.
But we try to keep it as free as possible and devoid of ads. However, we need to make some income to cover costs.
For the less than 10p a day if you decide to take a full membership I believe it’s great value.

    Apololgy Mr.Fixit!

I was not mentally sober yesterday and I regret writing my post..
Didn’t want to make any rant..I have experienced an unsuccessful run of late and believe me
a few times one or two goals in the time added on denied my ‘full houses ‘ that’s why
I’ve been nervous recently and I better be quiet now..
p s . I play in a little similalry like you..altough I make three trebles as my basic play but later on
I mix them to create three sixfolds and to finish my system up ninefold acca..maybe it’s to difficult
and I should invent other pattern..Anyway sorry about all that and hopefully fortune soon return.
