Sampdoria v Inter Milan
Serie A. KO 7:30pm, Saturday, September 22nd
INTER put in an inspirational shift against a dominant Tottenham, refusing to capitulate even when Spurs tried to park the bus during the dying minutes.
Another reason Italian teams are producing the most dramatic football in the top tier of European competition at the moment, in my opinion.
Back home, however, Inter have not exactly shone in Serie A. It was painful to watch them lose against Parma last round and they had a resonent loss against Sassuolo which the fans are still complaining about and rightly so. Spalleti has it all to do against a side with a rock solid home record. Sampdoria have only lost once at their home stadium and made mincemeat of Napoli who are no mugs.
The fact Sampdoria missed out on the Europa gig this time around gives more onus on the domestic league and so far this season they are proving a solid and focused prospect.
Having said that Inter's last visit to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris less than 12 months ago, saw them route the home side 5-0. This coupled with their performance against Spurs is possibly why Inter are odds on Favorites to win the match.
Statisticians often fail to realize that after a transfer window and into a new season historical data and algorithms have little meaning, the fact is Inter have won one game this campaign and are 8 points shy of the top spot, they are vastly mis-priced at 8/11. Sampdoria or draw is probably my best bet value bet of the weekend at 21/20 and I will be lumping on.
