A MISSED penalty by Craig Beattie cost us a Scottish fivefold last weekend.

It looked good all day with eight out of 10 teams netting in the first half.

But when we needed Beattie to do the business from 12 yards he beat us up and we had settle for a fourfold and our money back.

After what happened last week I'm reluctant to put an SPL match in the fivefold.

So start off with Ayr v Dundee in the First Division. It's a vital game with Ayr fighting the drop and Dundee now knowing second place will guarantee promotion if Rangers are liquidated after the end of the season.

Both sides have scored in three meetings this season and the last five in total. It was 3-1 Dundee at Somerset Park in October and they won 4-1 at Dens in March.

Dundee's last two matches have been 3-0 defeats but they thought there was nothing to play for. Prior to that both scored in four games running.

Ayr have netted in their last five but conceded 15 in six games, keeping just one clean sheet.

Next try Annan v Peterhead. Annan must win to rescue their play-off hopes but face a side who have come alive in recent weeks after a dreadful start to the season.

They have taken 10 points from 12, scoring in their last five outings, with star striker Rory McAllister in fine form.

Annan had netted in five successive games before struggling against Queen's Park at Hampden last week but have netted 11 in four games against Head this season. Those four have seen both score three times and totalling 18 goals.

I'm staying in the Third Division with Elgin v Montrose. Four of the last six meetings have featured four or more goals with both scoring and this season there have been three, four then five goals.

Elgin's last six have produced 27 goals including a 3-3 draw at Berwick last week and 8-1 defeat at Alloa. Montrose games haven't been dull either with four out of five seeing both score.

My third game from Div Three is old favourite Stranraer v Queen's Park. The last two meetings have been 3-2 to Queen's and this one could be action-packed with the sides possibly facing each other in the play-offs.

Five out of Stranraer's last six have brought up this market while Queen's last six have produced 20 goals.

FInally go back up to Division One for Livington v Morton. Three meetings this season have seen both score and Livi have rattled in 16 in six games as they finish the season strongly.

Morton, whose last away matched ended in a 4-3 defeat at Hamilton, are safe from the drop so it should be a relaxed, entertaining game hopefully with a few goals.

Both teams to score

Ayr v Dundee

Annan v Peterhead

Elgin v Montrose

Stranraer v Queen's Park

Livingston v Morton

Michael, will put them up tonight, no later than 9pm but hopefully earlier. Need to get the Daily Record pages away first. I’ve picked them out but haven’t written it up yet.
