Newcastle v Arsenal

Premier League. Saturday, September 15. Kick-off 3pm.

ARSENAL have a good record home and away against Newcastle losing one but winning 10 of the last 11 head-to-heads and should have nothing to fear against the Geordies this weekend after winning the last two matches prior to the international break.

However, while Arsenal have been free-scoring this season they have also been incredibly sloppy and leaky at the back. Mustafi and Sokratis are not convincing at all and this means most teams will fancy their chances of getting on the scoresheet against the Gunners.

At the moment it is pretty much a case of Arsenal having to ensure they outscore the opposition to secure the victory and while that is certainly not a recipe for success it will hopefully be enough to get the points against the so-called weaker teams, while the coaches work on the defence in training.

Unai Emery is still struggling to find his best team having heavily rotated the midfield and attack in the early stages of the season. Guendouzi has still been the most pleasant surprise for Gunners this season having enjoyed an excellent debut to his Arsenal career but fans are also keen to see what Torreira can do having craved a quality defensive midfielder for so long.

I won’t be surprised to see Torreira and Xhaka start in the middle this weekend as this is the final combination Emery has yet to start with.

Up front is an equal conundrum. Lacazette must surely have done enough to play himself into the starting line-up alongside Aubameyang which leaves two spaces to fill. Last time out it was Ozil and Ramsey and in all honesty I don’t think these two play that well together as they are too similar. I have a feeling it will be one or the other, with Mkhitaryan or Iwobi filling the wide role.

Newcastle have struggled this season with one draw and three losses and while I can see them getting on the scoresheet tomorrow Arsenal should too. I wouldn’t like to call the winner in this match but certainly see goals.

Like this! Had Arsenal been evens to win this would have been heavily backed and still will. Just some punters may step back.
