Chievo v Juventus
Italian Serie A. Saturday 18th August 18:00. (Second half live on Eleven Sport)
BACK in September last year a Ronaldo-less Juventus beat Chievo 3-0 at the Allianz stadium. Despite starting the new campaign with a fairly boring but convincing win against Genoa on Monday night, where the away team didn't produce a single shot on target, I think this weekend will see Ronaldo start his mission to re assert himself as one of the best in Europe.
There is little value to be had in Cristiano scoring, as the bookies are treating an anytime goal from him as a forgone conclusion but I do fancy goals to be scored in the match .
Aside from the Portuguese road runner there is also Dybala, Fagioli, Maduzukic and Pjanic who are no stranger's to hitting the target. For stat cruncher's we can also ruminate the fact that Massimiliano Allegri's men have found the back of the net 18 times in their first hour of play .
Chievo got leathered 5-1 at Lazio in their last game . There were 3 goals scored before half time and this is the betting angle I will be taking here, as its the only sliver of light the bookies have left us .
I think that the quality surrounding Ronaldo will allow him to take chances early on in the match and I think there is enough talent out on the field with him to indicate the chances of early goals less likely than the bookie's tissue would have us believe.
