Ewood Park, Tuesday, 8pm ( live on Sky Sports 1)
MR F asked me to put up an SFL midweek piece but having looked at the four First Division games they're as tough to call as climbing Everest wearing flip-flops.
Dundee will probably beat Queen of the South but the visitors, who are 9-2 at Coral, are fighting for their lives and can't be written off.
The other three games involve sides who are fighting to finish out of the bottom two – Ayr, Raith and Morton – and draws in any of these matches wouldn't surprise me.
So instead of the SFL I'm taking a peek at Blackburn v Liverpool, the only Premier League match tonight.
In truth Liverpool are playing like an SFL club and on current form might struggle to beat the likes of Ross County and Dundee.
Nine points have been amassed in 13 games this year and if it wasn't for a Carling Cup success and run to the FA Cup semis I'm sure Kenny Dalglish would have been asked to step aside.
A match at Blackburn, the club he guided to the title in 1995, is the last thing he needs. Rovers will fight for every ball while Liverpool need a confidence-boosting result but will have one eye on the weekend Wembley showdown with Everton.
Davie Moyes rested half a team and still beat Sunderland 4-0 last night so they're going into the tie in great shape and if Liverpool don't win at Ewood Park I'll be looking at investing on Toffees at the weekend (it's usually the girlfriend who does that).
And so to tonight. I'm favouring a punt on Blackburn even without seeing whether Liverpool will field a weakened team.
They drew at Anfield and have lost just once in five games at home to the Reds.
Liverpool have lost to relegation-threatened Wigan, QPR and Stoke this year and Rovers will fancy their chances.
They are a biggest 13-5 with the likes of BetVictor, William Hill and Ladbrokes so there is even value backing them on the double chance at 4-5 with Betfred. Rovers draw no bet pays 13-8 at William Hill.
BetVictor offer Liverpool at 23-20 and it's not big enough in my humble opinion.
Yakubu has been the man for the big occasion and is worth a look at 7-1 at BetVictor and William Hill to score first. For an anytime scorer I'd consider the impressive Junior Hoillett at 7-2 with Paddy Power.
One problem for Rovers is keeping clean sheets and if the likes of Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard and Dirk Kuyt start you'd expect them to at least score. Of the three I'd take Kuyt at 11-4 with Blue Square and William Hill to net at anytime.
If Rovers are to win it's likely to be by one and that pays 9-1 with Ladbrokes.
Recommendations
Rovers win or draw
(4-5, Betfred)
Hoillett to score
(7-2, Paddy Power)
thats easily the worst pass back penalty ive seen in my life
Robert, I’m listening to 5 live and the commentator just asked whether the guy would ever play for Liverpool again so it must have been bad but got a break with the missed Blackburn penalty.
