MRF TopTips

IT was one out of two winners for me on Tuesday with the Betfred Cup treble landing and the Champions League one a loser.

Results in the qualifiers mainly went to plan but one of my picks Legia Warsaw were stunned 2-0 at home to Spartak Trnava.

The 2-1 Betfred Cup treble was Partick Thistle -1, Kilmarnock -1 and Ayr to win.

There are another five CL qualifiers tonight including Celtic v Rosenborg, Ajax v Sturm Graz and Ludogerets v Vidi (formerly Videoton).

BATE take on HJK, two sides going well domestically, and the home team should edge it. The only side to beat them in nine at home in the Champions League was Barcelona.

Ludogerets are pretty experienced campaigners at this level and are just 1-4 to take care of the Hungarian champions.

So for a treble I'm going with Celtic, BATE and Ajax. The Dutch are desperate to return to the big stage and while their friendly results have been poor they should be good enough to beat the Austrians.

I've posted a separate Celtic v Rosenborg preview, with the Scots hit by the absence of Moussa Dembele, but still set to bag a first-leg lead.

For now my first Super Single since backing France to win the World Cup Final is Frenchman Odsonne Edouard to score first at 16-5 with William Hill.

There are also four Betfred Cup games and the two I like best are Dunfermline at Brechin and Ross County at Arbroath. That double pays evens with McBookie.

Well done to all Tuesday's winners and good luck on Wednesday.

Remember to check out welovebetting for latest tips and video chat.

2pts Super Single

  • Edouard to score first

2pts Top Treble

  • Ajax (7.30pm)
  • Celtic (7.45pm)
  • (2-1, Coral)

Early one from the Philippines League

JPV Marakina v Davoa Aguilas (8am)

Last 3 times they’ve met in the league they have shared at least 5 goals between them. Last played each other only a few weeks ago (7/7) and it was 3-3. Before that it was 2-4 (may 2018), and 2-3 (April 2018)

I’ll reserve my thoughts on Celtic until team news is announced, too many different outcomes too confidently out something down although I expect us too win.

Rosenborg will play the same old 4-3-3 but will Rogers revert too a back 4 & match them in a 4-3-3 with 1 up top n 2 wide or shuffle Tierney or Lustig in as a makeshift centreback & continue with a 3-5-2 with Sinclair/Rogic if fit enough off Edouard and have the midfield 5 against their 3.

See how the teams are first but Edouard sticks out as Mr F has stated. Tierney is due a goal though so hell be anytime scorer @ 9/1

Think it’ll be Ajer n Hendry at CB with Lustig and Tierney but yeah I’ll wait and see but either way Siminovic is a big miss.

Jose Mourihno next Premier League manager to leave at 10/1 skybet, well worth a punt,Mourihno clearly is not happy with the transfer business,no marquee signing’s,he’s already had a pop at Pogba which is strange from a manager especially this close to kick off, can’t see him staying.

Not the man himself but I’d be interested to see if BTTS appears in-play for the Linfield NILF game – and at what price. Linfield are priced up as HUGE favourites but it was 3-6 when they last met Cliftonville.

Goals also look likely between Derry and Glentoran (with Glentoran doing the business)… Unibet go 3/5 on O3.5 which is a bit too skinny but a 4.0 Goal Line in-play would definitely tempt given Glentoran won 5-1 two months ago.

One game that stands for me tomorrow
    Aberdeen v Burnley
Burnley to win at 7/10 (NB)*****
Burnley to win -1.5 asian handicap at 2/1 (NAP)*****
Just for Burnley to win is a cracking price i’m not sure how the bookies have come to the conclusion that Aberdeen really pose any kind of threat here, whilst i do expect Burnley to struggle with both the Uefa cup and domestic duties it’s really to early to be giving odds like these on the visitors who will be pumped up and raring to go on their foray into Europe.Correct score 0-3
    Best of luck

My preview posted later also backs a Burnley win. In my opinion Aberdeen’s squad has been weakened with the likes of McLean, Christie and Rooney gone.

    • Avatar of mark edley

Burnley are fighters and should win this one comfortably, very surprised at the odds.

    • Avatar of Colin Gordon
      mr_chips 6 years ago

Rooney rarely featured in major European games in recent season. Forrestor, Gleeson and Ferguson can fill the Mclean and Christie void.

May be proved wrong but based on above I think BTTS much better selection than away win

    • Avatar of mark edley
      maccathered 6 years ago

Appreciate your input, but Burnley defensive wise are tough and i cannot see Aberdeen breaching them.

    • Avatar of Colin Gordon
      mr_chips 6 years ago

Are they? 1 clean sheet in last 8 league games Burnley.

Celtic the only side to win of 11 visitors to Pittodrie in 2018. Only Real Sociedad managed a win (93rd min) in last 4 years (11 games) at Pittodrie.6/7 home Euro games been both to score. That’s the smart bet for me based on form and fitness as opposed to assuming Burnley better given EPL. West Ham and Southampton lost to Romanian and Danish sides in recent years, Burnley I think still are prioritising league.

You know better than me but McInnes was rueing the loss of Rooney and Christie when he’s in the mood is a class act.

I’d not confidently back Burnley. Perhaps both to score the better bet as in recent years Aberdeen have done relatively well in Europa league qualifiers, that said they do concede.

Aberdeen have put out Rijeka and Groningen of note in recent years. Unlucky v Maribor, Kairat and Apollon Limassol. Real Sociedad were 2-1 down until 85mins then won late as Aberdeen went 2-4-4 to try and win a second leg. They are only team to win a Euro tie at Pittodrie in last 11 matches.

Fitness wise Aberdeen are ahead of Burnley.

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 6 years ago

Aberdeen are at least two weeks ahead in fitness but Burnley will go into this prepared. They seem keen on a run after not being in Europe for 50 years.

There is no doubting we want to do well in Europe but not at the expense of losing our premier league status. Worries me that we have done no business within this transfer window which could take its toll on our very small squad if we have success in the Europa league. For me, BTTS is the shout in this game but I’m not doing very well on the betting front at the moment. Obviously hope your right though Macca, good luck ?

    • Avatar of mark edley
      maccathered 6 years ago

I’m surprised Burnley haven’t strengthened, what i can gather though is they have a good youth set up and if that’s the case sometimes it can be better than buying,Sean Dyche is a good manager so that should compensate a little. There’s time yet though,Burnley should win this one tomorrow.

    • Avatar of Kyle B
      kyle b 6 years ago

I feel we need at least a couple of defenders and an addition in midfield. We only have 3 main centre halves, luckily they remained pretty much injury free throughout last season. Would like Dawson from West Brom that is quite versatile but looking like we will get priced out of a move. Mawson would be most welcome as well.

I watched the recent game at Deepdale other night which we kicked off with as good as our starting eleven and we aren’t quite at the races yet defensively, a few people in the comments have said that Aberdeen are further ahead in terms of fitness levels and that being said I feel Aberdeen have an excellent chance of scoring on home soil. Became clear to me that a few of our players are still in holiday mode sort of speak.

    Champions League – 6PM

    BATE Borisov v HJK Helsinki
This game stands out to me, BATE are the home favourites and on a fine winning streak, but HJK are no mugs and have had a good run themselves, their last game being the 3-1 Champions League victory against Vikingur which I tipped for Overs.

I firmly believe this game has both teams to score in it, and the odds are decent [if it lands of course ;) ]

    Night Owl…

    FLUMINENSE VS. PALMEIRAS (2300 KO):

Really keen on this one and it’s the visitors making a mark that may bring the best value.

Palmeiras are in a rich vein of form having scored in 90% of their last 10 and are without a loss in 6 – the fact they have scored in every single one of the last 8 H2H’s just bolsters the notion they can grab at least 1 against a Fluminense side who have conceded in 9 of their own last 11.

    Two selections to consider:

    PALMEIRAS GOAL BEFORE 51:00…5/6
    ????

    PALMEIRAS BRACE…6/5
    ??
