THERE are no outstanding Premier League games today but Liverpool v Man City catches the eye on Sunday.
Just about every English match I watched last week ended 0-0 – Fleetwood v Leicester, Norwich v Chelsea, Shrewsbury v West Ham and finally Chelsea v Arsenal and last night the Sheffield derby.
All were cup ties bar Sheff Utd v Sheff Wed so hopefully the trend changes this weekend and the Anfield clash promises to be a cracker.
Liverpool, who will have to shake off the loss of £142 million man Philippe Coutinho, are unbeaten in 17 while Man City of course remain invincible domestically after surviving an EFL Trophy scare against Bristol City.
Pep Guardiola is convinced the quadruple can't be done and while Coral have cut the odds to 20-1 I agree with the Spaniard.
I don't see them going through the league campaign without a loss either but will the record go today? City hammered Liverpool 5-0 at the Etihad but have lost four out of five at Anfield and haven't won there since 2003.
If Coutinho was playing I'd back the home at 54-25 with Marathonbet but the Brazilian will be missed so I'll go Liverpool draw no bet at 23-20 with William Hill.
City are a best 32-25 at Marathonbet but a draw at 11-4 with bet365 looks the shout. A scoring draw pays 7-2 at McBookie.
Mo Salah missed the FA Cup win against Everton but should return. He has 17 league goals and is 11-2 at boylesports to make his 18th the opener at 11-2 with bet365.
Elsewhere I like Chelsea to beat Leicester but they are no bigger than 3-10 at bet365. Spurs are a similar price at home to Everton with Stan James going 3-10.
The other games look tight ones but Swansea look a shade big at 5-1 with McBookie against fellow strugglers Newcastle. Take the Swans not to lose at 11-12 with Unibet.
In the Championship Wolves should win at Barnsley but are generally 4-6 which is short for an away.
Bristol City put in a shift at Man City in midweek and could feel the effects at home to Preston. A draw here is possible at 5-2 with Betfred.
For goals look at both to score at Millwall v Preston and Nottingham Forest v Aston Villa.
In League One best bets could be Plymouth at Doncaster. After a slow start to the season Derek Adams' side are motoring and up to 12th.
They are level on points with today's hosts Doncaster and look big at 5-1 with Betfred. Donny are in decent form too though so take Plymouth draw no bet at 16-5 with betfair.
Alex McLeish is trying to buy Charlton and if watches them today should witness a win at basement boys Bury who have lost six in a row without scoring. Charlton are 17-10 at bet365.
In League Two best bets are leaders Luton at second-bottom Chesterfield but it pays just 4-6 at McBookie. The Hatters played well despite losing at Newcastle in the FA Cup with Danny Hylton hitting their consolation. He has 17 for the season and is 7-2 at Betfred to score first.
Recommended Bets
- Swansea draw no bet at Newcastle (23-10, McBookie)
- Middlesbrough to bt Fulham (6-5, Marathonbet)
- Charlton at Bury (17-10, bet365)
- Plymouth draw no bet at Doncaster (16-5, betfair)
- Hylton (Luton) to score first (7-2, Betfred)
Doncaster tough to beat at home, plymouth have lost that star midfielder to fleetwood- they only started playing well when he was included ?
