FIRST of all let's start with Hearts. They were magnificent from start to finish against Celtic and fully deserved to end the invincible run at 69.

My Super Single was crushed by the 4-0 result but I've no excuses – I didn't see it coming against a weakened side and over the past 18 months plenty of people have made money on Celtic.

For non-Celtic fans interested in Scottish football it was a good outcome. We need a strong Hearts (and Hibs) and a title race would be brilliant too. Aberdeen are just two points off the pace although it could be five by the time they visit Parkhead at the weekend as Celtic face Partick on Wednesday and there's bound to be a backlash.

And Rangers would also be two points off the pace if they hadn't lost to St Johnstone. Football is full of would haves, could haves and should haves but consider where Rangers would be if they hadn't dropped points in recent weeks to Saints, Hamilton and Dundee.

While my SS went down my both to score treble was a 15-4 winner. I has two points on and used one point to cover no both to score at RB Leipzig at 7-1 when they trailed 2-0 against 10 men.

And the Top Treble will be a winner if Everton beat Swansea tonight. Juventus and Barcelona -2AH won easily.

There were plenty of winners with results – apart from Celtic's – being generally good for punters. Greg's double on over 2.5 goals at Hearts and Liverpool landed but as he said he didn't expect Hearts to bag them all.

I've already tipped Everton to beat Swansea and I also fancy Wayne Rooney to net after hitting five in four games since Sam Allardyce took charge. He is 19-10 at sporting to score and 11-2 with bet365 to net first – and in fact the latter is worth risking one point on.

Elsewhere Malaga face Real Betis and Porto are at home to Maritimo. The Spanish sides are tough to split but Porto, aiming to return to the top on goal difference, should win well against a side they've beaten to nil in five of the last six in Lisbon.

Porto are a best 3-20 with Marathonbet and 4-7 with McBookie to win without conceding. They have a 23-2 goal difference at home and have netted five in their last two games against Monaco in the Champions League and Vitoria Setubal in the league.

Maritimo are sitting nicely in fifth but this is mainly due to an unbeaten home record. Away from home they're the 11th best side.

In French Ligue it's Lens v a Tours side rooted to the foot with just five points. Lens have recovered from a bad start after changing managers and are 6-10 at William Hill.

Wasn't going to put up a treble but let's go with Lens and both to score at Jong Ajax v Den Bosch. Ajax games have totalled 65 in 17 with Den Bosch's producing 54 so there is every chance of goals. Complete with Porto -1.

There are a few other games so watch out for tips from the usual contributors.

It's the sports desk lunch today and it could be a messy affair so I won't be about much until the evening when I plan to get back in time to watch Everton v Swansea.

Hi all. Górnik Zabrze in the polish league have let me down twice recently but they are been solid in giving winners previously so I have forgiven them.

Today at 5pm we have the last match before the winter break and of górnik Zabrze win today they will finish 1st for the winter break. They are against a poor Cracovia side who got smashed 4-1 in their derby with Wisła and are second to last in the table. They leak too many goals but do score a good few. They and górnik have a high amount of goals between them.
Prices are low but over 2.5 should be a banker. At 1.66.
Górnik win at 1.70 should be solid too.
For good value I suggest 2 bets
Górnik Zabrze to win and over 2.5 goals at 2.50
Over 2.5 goals and btts at 2.05.
    Good luck to all today

Wasn’t around yesterday. A little profit from sat picks.
    All over 2.5 goals.
    Inter Milan 1.625. Won
    Wycombe. 1.750. Lost.
    Southend. 1.95. Won.

Only one game of goals interest for me today although shortlist included u20 Scottish game today.

Fenerbache over 3 Asian goal line.

Fenerbache are heavy favourites and need to win to keep on pace with Istanbul, gala and besitktas.

I suspect they may now have it their own way which could lead 4 or more goals.

    Prediction 3-1 home win

Karabukspor last 4 games while similar underdogs. (Karabukspor score first)

All over Fenerbahce today like most seem to be.

Their home games have spewed goals all season and I don’t see that changing when Karabukspor visit. They average 2 goals conceded on the road. Fenerbahce’s home games have seen 33 goals in 7, and they’ve scored at least twice in each. Their only clean sheet came in a 6-0 cup victory, though, so they’ve been equally prone to conceding.

I’m tempted by BTTS and Overs @ 6/4 but those sides that have visited Fenerbahce and left with a goal or two have far better scoring records this season than Karabukspor do. Instead I’m on the following:

    Fenerbahce O1.5 Team Goals and 8+ Match Corners @ 4/5 (Bet365) – now best 8/11

    Small stake:

Fenerbahce To Score in Both Halves @ 5/6 (Various)
    ____________________________________________

Fenerbahce v Kasimpasa [O2.5 Match Goals]
Gornik v Cracovia [O1.5 Match Goals]

I’m still counting the dodged bullets over this weekend. Celtic being thumped 4-0. I guess its a rare occasion for the Celtic keeper to be spending so much league match time picking the ball out of the net.
Yesterdays Sports personality of the year result Mo Farah, well nobody can argue – he’s earned it but then, so have so many, most notably my favourite Chris Froome. I don’t doubt that the issue over his Asthma inhaler will be resolved, but really?? ignoring him for winning the TDF 4 out of 5 last races ( 1 absence 4 years ago )

Anyway, enough ranting, congrats to anyone who dropped a couple of quid on Mo Farah @ 50/1, I dare say there won’t be many winners on that one.

On a side note, my rolling bet took another nice leap last night when my buddy from Texas urged me to dive into the NFL action – of which I was completely out of my depth and in his hands. It duly obliged with New England beating Pittsberg @ 3/4.

    £77.60 – £135.
With so little action today, the obvious bet to jump on tonight is Everton to beat Swansea. Swansea are one of the only sides in the top flight that seem deemed for the championship. Everton shouldn’t really be in a relegation battle and I expect them to wind up mid table come May.
Sometimes having too few options to bet on is as dangerous as having too many. I might steer clear. Unless I read something in todays threads that convinces me to take a punt.

    Morning gents,

FA Trophy action for me tonight…

    SOLIHULL VS. TRANMERE:

The hosts lie rock-bottom heading into the Christmas period and offer up the (joint) worst g/d in the National League.

Tranmere are hardly pulling up any trees but have a far superior squad to choose from – the hosts head down from the Wirral having scored 3, 4 and 2 team goals in their last 3 attempts and more notably have scored 2, 9 and 3 past Solihull in the last 3 H2Hs!

    Two selections to consider:

    TRANMERE PVER 1.5 TGS…8/11
    ????

    TRANMERE OVER 2.5 TGS…9/4
    ?

Best of luck with all bets.

Looking at the Portuguese Primera, and Porto v Maritimo. Porto obviously massive favourites here as they usually are at home. However, this opens up some value on handicaps and unders bets (although not my usual bag). Porto’s goal time is set at 27 minutes with 365. However, Maritimo will try to keep it tight early and generally don’t give away much – 12 out of their last 15 matches have seen them not concede before that 27 minutes line. I think this will be a Porto win but not a hammering. Of course there’s always the danger that an early goal goes in and there’s a collapse….the value is reasonable I think so I’ll risk that. The only H2H this year was 1-1 in May. In December 2016, Porto won 2-1 at home, the first goal coming on the stroke of HT.

    Porto no goal before 27 minutes @ 5/6 (**)
Porto win and under 3.5 @ evens (**)
    HT score 1-0 @ 41/20 (*)

For accas under 1.5 FH Gls is @ 8/13.
    Another option is Maritimo + 2.5AH @ 29/40.

    GL all!

Everton have picked up somewhat over the past few weeks and now sit pretty in mid table so its panic over and i put this down to Sam Allardyce and his coaching methods his no nonsense approach to the game,He’s got off to a flyer and now has Wayne Mooney (SHREK) playing in his preffered position and scoring again, the visitors Swansea are in trouble and desperate for the points so they cannot afford to just sit back which i don’t think they will and can at least score one here, given that and the fact Everton are in form i expect we should see an overs game here.

Been looking at the U23 games at 1PM, had some good results on these for goals past few weeks.

    Picked out a few games that could see goals, on the following 4-fold;

    Crewe U23 v Huddersfield U23 ❌ 0-1 FT
    Ipswich U23 v Coventry U23 ✅ 6-0 FT
    Crystal Palace U23 v Bristol U23 ✅ 4-0 FT
    QPR U23 v Watford U23 ✅ 2-2 FT

    4.68/1
    1 POINT
    *Lost*

Bit gutted about that, Crewe just didn’t turn up at all for the game. Other 3 picks sailed in.

Mr F, imagine where Aberdeen would be if we didn’t go to pot during the McInnes will he / won’t he go carry on. We would be top.

    • Avatar of Sean Campbell
      sean567 7 years ago

Jim no point in dealing ifs and maybes. Could just as easily say imagine how many more points Celtic would have if they never dropped points before/after champions league games due to rotation. It’s pointless.

    • Avatar of James Barclay
      superjim 7 years ago

Yes Sean I agree. I was just mirroring MrFs point about where Rangers could be. Could have/should have etc.

Apologies, I never thought it was a response. I’m sure every team could come up with something as to why they should have more points

Fk me! Górnik Zabrze letting me down again. 2-0 down at home. Poor defending. Hope they score soon to bring up the btts and overs. Doubt they’ll score 3 and not concede anymore but I’m crossing everything possible.

Sorry if anyone jumped on górnik Zabrze. 4-0 down, can’t even muster one goal and got a red card. Never betting on them again!

I got my sums wrong a tad on my last bet, i’m at £131 not £135, so with much deliberation, I have to go with my first instinct and take Everton to win tonight. I got them @ 4/5 with betfair. The price has dipped a little to 3/4 but with Sam Allardyce now seemingly righted a sinking ship and 4 wins from 5 and a draw ( against Liverpool ). I think this match is ripe for a bookie basher. Swansea are adrift at sea, all be it for a lonely 1 nil win against WBA. Their team has scored less than all Rooneys goal tally and they have the worst number of shots at goal in the top flight. This could be a win to nil for the toffee’s but i’m taking relative safety over stupidity.

    – Wayne Rooney, Roque Mesa & Tom Carroll to be carded – 250/1 – £1

Main bet lands but the small stakes punt is downed by a quiet first half in Turkey. No 3rd goal came either, despite them sailing in in Poland. Small loss.

Gurney vs Huybrechts – Huybrechts under 2.5 180’s 11/10 Paddypower **NB** WON

Suljovic missed double top for a 160 out so its two NAP’s down in a row but I’m very hopeful of picking it up especially in round 2. Got a tad greedy on the football – was intended to be a strong double from Serie C but odds were 19/10 and I wanted a bit more so added corners from Gornik’s match but they weren’t at the races today and didn’t pull their weight in that respect. Well done to today’s winners
